The Position

Roanoke College invites applications for a Lecturer position in the School of Health, Science, and Sustainability, starting in August 2025. We seek a candidate with energetic vision, creative thought, and collaborative spirit to teach introductory and general education courses within the natural sciences. The successful candidate will teach four units a semester within their general field. To learn more about our current programs, visit https://www.roanoke.edu/academics/schools.

A Ph.D. in a natural science discipline (such as Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics, Engineering) or a closely related field is preferred; a Master's Degree or higher with relevant professional experience is required. A successful candidate must have a strong interest in teaching a wide range of undergraduate science and engineering-related courses in a liberal arts setting, some of which include dual enrollment students, and collaborating with colleagues on pedagogical innovations. Evidence of highly effective classroom teaching or potential of such is required. The likely teaching load includes general education STEM courses, lab instruction, and introductory courses in one's field of study. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
