The basics of this position:

The Senior Specialist, Fiscal Services manages fixed assets, supports capital projects, and performs general accounting activities. This role ensures accuracy in financial reporting, maintains compliance with applicable accounting standards, and provides support for internal and external audits. Additionally, the position involves tracking and reconciling capital assets, analyzing the state reimbursement expenses and filing for reimbursement, assisting with budget preparation, and performing account analysis to ensure the integrity of financial data.

What you'll do:



  • Manages the fixed assets process, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and transfers, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintains and reconciles the fixed assets sub-ledger to the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and depreciation of assets.
  • Oversees capital projects accounting, including tracking construction in progress, monitoring project expenditures, and ensuring proper capitalization of assets upon completion.
  • Coordinates surplus asset disposition and ensures compliance with asset retirement policies.
  • Performs account analysis, identifies and corrects errors, and ensures accuracy of financial data.
  • Assists in the preparation of audit schedules, financial statements, and fixed asset reports for internal and external audits.
  • Supports capital projects management and reporting and provides financial guidance on asset management.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of fixed assets and general accounting activities.
  • Assists in developing and refining accounting procedures related to asset management and financial reporting.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Education, experience, and other requirements:

* Associate degree in Accounting or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

* Preferred: Bachelor's degree
* Experience with fixed asset management and general ledger reconciliation is high desirable.
