Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Marketing, and in collaboration with key UC Davis partners, provide leadership and coordination for the University's Trademark Licensing program. Support the goals of the Office of Strategic Communications and Athletics by managing the university's licensing program by developing a strategic plan to assess the current program, determine plans and strategies to grow the royalty revenue and retail outlets.

Responsible for protecting the university's brand image, marks identity across channels, retail products, and promotional items.
Increase the awareness and visibility of the university and its programs across in the retail marketplace.
Drive more consumers to way to buy and be brand ambassadors of the UC Davis brand, develop retail programs across the community through the engagement of students, fans and alumni.
Oversee all of the operations of Trademark Licensing program to include new licensee applications, contracts, contract addendum, insurance certificates, royalty revenue and audits. Track, oversee, and negotiate and maintain contracts. Manage the Licensing systems to include Brand Manager 360, tracking the analytics tools and develop reports and quarterly reporting across royalty revenue, retail, YOY comparisons, and additional key aspects of the program. Manage the program budget, determine where to spend Operations budget and allocating the Marketing fund.

Manage the relationship with the agency, Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC) or licensing agency partners and be the university's main point of contact. Maintain the relationships and outreach to licensees and University partners to promote the UC Davis brand, onboard new licensees, and grow the relationships with existing to expand the support and presence of UC Davis across retail channels.
Research and led new licensing business opportunities to grow the Licensing program to develop additional streams of revenue and expand licensed products and programs. The goal of the program manager is drive incremental revenue and increase royalty revenue by 20% or higher. Partner closely with the Marketing Analysis to conduct new market insights, categories and consumer data to develop business plans, new development opportunities, and reporting quarterly and annual basis.
Continually work to expand the university's licensed program by introducing Only at UC Davis product collections, such as the Arneson Eggheads collection. Grow the brand and the number of consumers that purchase licensed products and the cadence/frequency of shopping the brand. Educate internal stakeholders and the campus community on what is Licensing, the value of the program and develop a promotional product guidelines and service fees to ensure the department and campus is being efficient, sustainable with limited resources.

Partner with the Marketing team to promote and develop campaigns to support seasonal or annual Licensing launches and develop awareness and advertising plans. Collaborate across Strategic Communications to drive awareness of Licensing support and promotion to include News, Social, Visual, and Web, in addition to campus wide opportunities as well.
Develop methods to maximize efficiency of operations and streamline and accelerate the licensing road process to provide unparalleled service and support to internal and external.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
* Bachelor's degree in business or communications or a related field, and/or equivalent experience/training.
* 5 years of marketing, retail and/or trademark licensing experience.
* Experienced in Licensing or Retail or experience in a comparable sales or business-development situation. Skills to manage and implement successful licensing and/or retail programs that yield significant revenue growth.
* Experience managing complex internal and external program, tracking sales, royalty, analysis and budgets.
* Demonstrated experience of effective presentation skills.
* Analytical skills to understand data, demographics, retail math, track retail sales and accounts, research, analyze and draw conclusions around complex issues.
* Organizational skills to establish goals and prioritize multiple competing projects and multiple incoming requests
* Interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain relationships across stakeholders and departments and collaborate and negotiate with others from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in an advertising agency, public relations, marketing or trademark licensing department. Experience working in retail, buyer or management setting.
* Experience working and managing a multi-layered brand.
* Experience working and higher education or sports marketing and/or collegiate licensing.
* Account management, managing multiple projects and campaigns internally and externally.

Strategic Communications provides comprehensive and coordinated campus leadership in developing, planning, creating and implementing strategic communications programs based on the department's goals and objectives. The department works across all media to foster increased awareness, understanding and support of UC Davis' mission, vision, accomplishments, impacts and needs among its many internal and external constituencies. It serves as the official voice of UC Davis to regional, state, national and international news media. Strategic Communications encompasses six units: Visual Communications, News and Media Relations, Web Communications, Social Media, Marketing and Executive Communications.
Strategic Communications' multimedia storytellers, writers, social media practitioners, designers, web developers, information architects and search-engine experts have a mission to communicate university messages through interactive media. We coordinate these communications across platforms to reach our audiences. Our efforts can be seen on the UC Davis home site, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and other sites and channels.

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
