Job Summary:
This position will support the Insurance and Claims team located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position requires a minimum of two years of legal secretarial experience. Must possess the ability to multitask and stay flexible in a fast-paced environment while working as part of a team of internal and external stakeholders. This is the career/senior level of the administrative hierarchy.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following
Serves as the process owner for claims administration of asbestos, chemical and hearing loss claims. Handles information of a highly confidential nature and maintains confidentiality. Collaborate with outside defense attorneys and paralegals to collect and report claims data. Create detailed Claim Summary based on employment record reports, medical reports, and Industrial Commission documents.Claim creation requires the ability to utilize Duke Energy systems to research employee/contractor records. Assist with running monthly claim reports as needed. Initiate and complete assigned projects as instructed and with a sense of urgency. Performs routine administrative duties such as processing CAPS invoices, scanning, creating/maintaining electronic claim files, managing incoming mail, and preparing settlement check mailings. Responds to inquiries in a respectful and professional manner from officers, management, other employees, and external sources regarding a variety of claim/legal questions and other matters and determines what, how and to whom information is to be communicated with little direction or supervision required.

Legal secretarial experience or related experience of a technical and responsible nature and proficiency with legal terminology Demonstrated clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications skills, including an emphasis on grammar and formatting Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and coordinate work while being proactive, taking initiative, and exhibiting sound judgment Attention to detail, accuracy, and flexibility in handling multiple tasks Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle highly confidential information Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and other Microsoft products and SharePoint Demonstrated problem solving, decision making and analytical skills Holds oneself accountable for complete, accurate, and timely work results, both independently and as part of a team Exercises professional judgment, integrity, respect, and professionalism 5+ years related experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant Associate's or Bachelor's degree Experience reading and summarizing medical reports NC Notary Public
Working Conditions:
Hybrid Mobility Classification - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable dailycommute to the assigned Duke Energy facility. Prolong sitting at desk/computer May be required to work occasional overtime
