Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Campus Health (CH) is a multi-specialty ambulatory college health clinic providing quality, and affordable health care for eligible students and spouses. Annually, CH has more than 80,000 patient encounters, which includes Primary Care and Women's Health as well as specialty clinics in sports medicine, orthopedics, gynecology, physical therapy, counseling and psychological services, travel clinic and allergy clinic. Weekend acute care is provided from 8-5 PM. On site ancillary services include pharmacy, OTC pharmacy, Student Stores pharmacy, medical laboratory, and radiology.

Campus Health has been continuously accredited since 1986 by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. All personnel are trained in the concepts and principles of Performance Improvement and serve as team members and leaders in shaping and defining the organization as it strives to provide quality and safe care.

Campus Health collaborates with Student Wellness and Campus Recreation and other Student Affairs partners to provide education and outreach to assist in keeping the campus population healthy.

Education and research comprise another important function of CH. CH provides clinical rotations and practicums for students in the School of Education, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work and Public Health, Department of Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Health and Radiology. In addition, CH serves as a research site for a number of faculty and graduate student grants and contracts, where CH staff participates with the principal investigators across a variety of medical specialties.
Position Summary
A SIGN-ON BONUS OF UP TO $2,500 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF HIRE.

The Nurse Supervisor works in an ambulatory care facility that serves a college-age population. This position is responsible for planning work assignments and implementing clinical functions within Primary Care, Same Day Care and Gynecology, coordinating with professional nurses in these clinical areas (Primary Care, Gynecology, Same Day Care and Sports Medicine) for the delivery of nursing services and serving in an administrative role when the Nursing Director is absent.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and two years of experience in the area of specialization.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of good supervisory practices and skill in supervising others, including communication skills.
Critical Thinking: Ability to independently implement the nursing process (assess, plan, implement and evaluate) to meet patient needs as it relates to patient care and to staff assignment and delegation with guidance from policies, procedures and protocols.
Client/Customer Service: Ability to actively seek to motivate employees and develop team camaraderie and commitment towards meeting the objectives of higher management. Ability to develop and maintain a close working relationship among departments within the facility. Consulting/Advising: Ability to advise and counsel employees on job performance and conduct. Ability to plan for and support employees in career development opportunities.
Communication: Ability to write reports to upper management on operations of unit. Ability to disseminate information on changes in policies, procedures, protocols, etc., via various channels such as meetings, bulletin boards, memos, email, etc. Ability to effectively articulate staffing and recruitment needs to the Director of Nursing. Ability to use appropriate investigative interview techniques when conducting an investigation.
Supervision: Ability to coach and facilitate the enhancement of employee competencies as appropriate to the needs of the facility. Manages resources effectively to provide for employee training and growth. Ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in an ambulatory care facility or college health setting. Clinical experience and supervisory experience preferred
Required Licenses/Certifications
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Visual acuity is essential for the physical assessment and implementation of nursing/medical care on a daily basis. Examples may include examining patients, reading medical charts, documentation of physical findings and preparation and administration of medication. Mental concentration is required to document physical assessment findings to ensure that the data collected is thorough and accurate. Manual dexterity is required in the performance of many areas of direct and indirect patient care. These may include placement of an intravenous catheter, application of sterile dressings and administration of medication. Touch is used for diagnostic measures such as the temperature of the skin, or detecting the presence of masses.

This SHRA Sign-on Bonus is contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire. All recipients must sign the Pay Back Agreement form.
