Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) Program Coordinator
This role assists in managing the Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) program and supports all related laboratory services. It is responsible for ensuring the operations and regulatory compliance of both waived and non-waived POCT conducted remotely in patients' homes, as well as supporting offsite laboratory testing across MGB laboratories. The position works collaboratively to ensure accurate and reliable testing, staff competency, and adherence to all regulatory standards and agencies.

Essential Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Standardization:
Ensures policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and associated forms align with regulatory requirements and reflect current practices.
Supports standardization of SOPs and best practices across MGB POCT programs.
Training & Education:
Provides initial training, 6-month evaluations for new hires, and annual competency assessments for all personnel performing POCT.
Conducts ongoing education on Joint Commission/CLIA requirements, quality control, and good laboratory practices.
Proficiency Testing & Quality Assurance:
Manages regulated and non-regulated Proficiency Testing (PT) programs, ensuring proper staff rotation and annual renewals, signed off by the CLIA Laboratory Director.
Oversees instrument linearity, calibration verification, and biannual method comparisons to maintain accuracy and reliability.
This role is essential in maintaining high-quality point-of-care testing and ensuring compliance across all testing sites

Education
Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required

Licenses and Credentials
Medical Technologist (ASCP) - American Society for Clinical Pathology required

Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred

Experience
Clinical Laboratory experience as required to serve as the CLIA Technical Consultant 5 years required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have the analytical abilities necessary to perform waived and non-waived test procedures with a high degree of accuracy and an understanding of their relevance to specific patient conditions.
- Must have the ability to read, comprehend, and follow written procedures, regulatory documents, and verbal instructions.
- Must have the ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic, and statistical calculations.
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and patient care providers.
- Must have technical writing ability and computer skills.
