AESC is looking to add a Sustainability Specialist to our team in Murfreesboro, TN. * Full-Time * Hybrid * 2 days a week in Murfreesboro with occasional travel to Bowling Green, KY and Florence, SC About AESC US LLC AESC is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance batteries for zero-emission electric vehicles and energy storage systems. AESC's Tennessee gigafactory in Smyrna, which has been operational since 2012, produces batteries for Nissan. The Kentucky gigafactory in Bowling Green will supply Mercedes-Benz with high-performance battery cell modules. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology-leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group's Spartanburg plant. We are currently seeking a Sustainability Specialist to support our growing US operations. This is an exciting opportunity to drive sustainable impact throughout AESCs battery value chain. About the Role The Sustainability Specialist plays a pivotal role in realizing AESC's environmental and social goals and commitments. As part of AESC's US Region Sustainability team, this position will collaborate with various internal business functions, customers, and suppliers to advance AESC's environmental sustainability initiatives. Reporting to AESC's US Sustainability Senior Manager, this person will contribute to AESC's reputation as an industry leader in environmentally and socially conscious battery production. What You Will Do * Sustainable Operations Support: Work with internal teams to deliver initiatives that support environmental and energy requirements and goals. * Stakeholder Engagement: Lead collaboration with customers and suppliers to drive sustainability initiatives that align with internal requirements and goals. * Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze and manage internal and supplier data for consistent sustainability reporting, disclosure and verification. * Programmatic Development: Collaborate with sustainability and ESG colleagues to develop and utilize tools for operationalizing, tracking, and reporting environmental and energy initiatives. * Educational Promotion: Create sustainability-focused training content for internal colleagues and suppliers to foster understanding and alignment with corporate sustainability expectations and policies. * Communication: Regularly update and report on the progress of projects and initiatives to internal stakeholders. * Institutional Awareness: Stay abreast of relevant sustainability and ESG standards, policies, and regulations. What You Need * Bachelor's degree in sustainability, energy and resources, environmental management / science, business, economics, public policy, or related field. * 2+ years of experience in sustainability, strategy consulting or related field, with 1 year of project management experience. * Working knowledge of water, waste and other industrial environmental management issues * Aptitude for data management and analysis, including ability to onboard digital tools to support environmental reporting and disclosure. * Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to work collaboratively across various functions and departments. * Self-starter, curious, persistent, and politically aware. * Passion for sustainability. * Other duties as assigned * Software Requirements: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams). What is "Nice to Have"? * Working knowledge of carbon and LCA accounting methods, GHG target setting, energy planning and decarbonization roadmap development and evaluation. * Awareness of corporate social responsibility best practices related to human and labor rights, stakeholder engagement, and ethical governance. * Experience in the energy and/or manufacturing sector. * Professional certifications such as LCACP, ENV SP, LEED AP. * Familiarity with sustainability-related frameworks and standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi, TCFD, Battery Passport). * Experience with data analysis / visualization software such as Tableau and Power BI Equal Employment Opportunity At AESC, we are committed to providing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) to all individuals.
