The Kentucky gigafactory in Bowling Green will supply Mercedes-Benz with high-performance battery cell modules. The South Carolina gigafactory in Florence will supply technology-leading battery cells for new electric models produced in BMW Group's Spartanburg plant. About the Role

As a Project Controls Manager within the Project Controls execution team, you will lead and manage a small team of project control professionals, ensuring the successful planning, execution, and delivery of our EV and ESS gigafactory construction projects. This role demands a high level of expertise in project controls, including cost management, scheduling, risk management, and progress tracking. Working closely with cross-functional teams-including engineering, procurement, and construction, you will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What You Will Do

The candidate should present adequate proficiency in the following three aspects:

  • Cost / Schedule management
  • Lead the development and implementation of cost management programs for construction projects, overseeing approved budgets, total commitments, cost incurred, invoiced costs, and cost projections
  • Provide strategic forecasts for project completion, anticipated man-hours and resources to optimize the cost forecasting process.
  • Provide rough order of magnitude cost and schedule estimates for design changes
  • Direct the preparation and regular updates of cash flow projections.
  • Deliver comprehensive monthly project status packages; working with the Project Management team to develop and refine reporting strategies, goals, and metrics
  • Provides support to project financial reporting and trending functions and the invoice/billing review process as required.
  • Track historical costs for benchmarking data to support estimating and procurement teams
  • Validate the target performance quality of all project disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Risk management
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and proactively manage project risks, leading the contingency management process.
  • Conduct routine SWOT analyses, proactively identifying risks and recommending strategic mitigation plans and scenarios.
  • Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead and manage a team of project control specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities for team members in cost management, scheduling, risk management, and analysis functions.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure team alignment with project goals and organizational standards.
  • Promote accountability, continuous improvement, and adherence to best practices within the team.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Qualifications
What You Need
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or a related field is required.
  • Certifications in planning, scheduling, and project management are highly recommended (e.g., PMP, PSP, or similar).
  • +10 years of CAPEX project management experience, focusing on planning/scheduling, cost control, and change management, ideally within Automotive or High-tech industries.
  • Exhibit extensive experience in schedule setup, baselining, monitoring, and controlling of resource loaded programs on large-scale projects across all phases.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and leading a team, with a proven ability to mentor and develop team members in project control functions such as cost and scheduling.
  • Understanding of construction means and methods in the civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
  • Proficient analytical skills for interpreting data, and comprehensive understanding of technical and legal materials
  • Demonstrated innovation and attention to detail, particularly in managing highly visible or controversial projects
  • Expert proficiency in software systems and packages including Primavera P6, Bluebeam, CAD, SAP, PowerBI, and Microsoft Suite
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily an automated manufacturing plant with a concrete floor and is characterized by some temperature extremes, moderate noise, and forklift traffic.
