Job Summary:



The Department of Neurology has a need for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist) with strong values and unique skills for our Headache Section.

This APP will work in the Headache section within the Department of Neurology. This is an outpatient position, providing direct care to our patients with all kinds of headache disorders, including those associated with low or high cerebrospinal fluid pressure. The APP engages closely with colleagues across the Department of Neurology, University of Colorado Hospital, and other satellite locations.

The Department of Neurology has an ongoing need for Advanced Practice Providers with strong values and unique skills for several of our specialties. This position will provide both acute and chronic direct outpatient care for neurologic patients, including performing office procedures like nerve blocks and Botox injections. Successful candidates will have a proven record of accomplishment in supporting the needs of patients, developing differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments in collaboration with leading specialty providers. We are seeking individuals who are collaborative, communicative, proactive, caring, detail-oriented, organized, able to think critically, focused on quality, and dedicated to personal growth.

The position is located at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Hours will vary depending on clinical schedules and department/hospital needs (some weekends and holidays) - will be determined at time of offer.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Screen, evaluate, diagnose, manage medications, and provide disease counseling
  • Acute and chronic outpatient care of patients with neurological disease including symptomatic therapy, disease-modifying therapy, and health maintenance care
  • Serve as first contact for clinician level patient communications
  • Engage in collaborative team-based care to make informed decisions for patient care
  • Support and engage in continual learning and development among nursing staff, physician assistants, pharmacy staff, medical students, and neurology residents
  • Periodic educational presentation of lectures to patients and others

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:



  • Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree
  • License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado
  • Experience and desire to work with patients with chronic, and sometimes severe illness
  • Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems
  • One (1) year working with neurological patients and/or experience with inpatient care


Senior Instructor:



  • Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Clinical Nurse Specialist Degree
  • License to practice in Colorado or ability to obtain a license to practice in Colorado
  • Experience and desire to work with patients with chronic, and sometimes severe illness
  • Experience completing documentation and performing tasks routinely assigned in medical settings using complex electronic record systems
  • Two (2) years working with neurological patients


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Significant experience with General neurological patients, especially Headache and other Pain patients, and/or experience in management of chronic diseases in a subspecialty environment.
  • Experience in primary care medicine is desirable as well as experience in management of mood disorders, including depression and anxiety.

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Instructor: $100,000 to $110,000

Sr. Instructor: $105,000 to $120,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
