Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Specialist will perform quality control inspections and repairs on residential, commercial, and enterprise customer premises pertaining to workmanship of in-house & contract partners to ensure compliance with quality & safety guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as OSHA & FCC & following procedures as outlined in the MetroNet Training Manual, NEC, NESC, Safety Manuals & Employee Handbook). The Quality Assurance Specialist assess the work performed in accordance to all MetroNet technical specifications. This role will document findings, corrections, and report information in accordance with policy & procedures.
What you will be doing:
- Perform contract partner evaluations to ensure individuals have knowledge and tools to perform work in a safe and proficient matter.
- Complete all safety and QC related paperwork, data entry, and reporting processes.
- Coach and evaluate contract partner staff as needed as part of a continuous improvement process.
- Perform local safety inspections on site as needed. Adhere to and set the example for all safety policies.
- Assist supervisor in following up on unacceptable workmanship to ensure work is completed to
- satisfactory levels.
- Promote quality and safety for both MetroNet and contract partners. Make continuous recommendations and suggestions for additional quality improvement and installation efficiencies.
- Recognize & escalate to a market supervisor or manager on any workmanship or service problems or other observed factors that could impact the ongoing relationship between METRONET and customers or other Utility Companies.
- Travel to other cities and states for extended periods of time as required.
What You Need For This Position:
- Experience with network designs maps and drawings.
- Previous experience inspecting and repairing aerial and underground fiber drop system.
- Motivated to influence others and facilitate change to resolve quality issue.
- Ability to climb and operate extension ladder (approx. 32 ft high & 90 pounds) and other duties assigned.
- Ability to differentiate between different sizes & colors of wires.
- Ability to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting.
- Previous experience using hand tools and test equipment.
- Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools & equipment, including ladders & fully loaded tool belts.
- Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (safety harness & ladders) within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment.
- Ability to perform job from high places (i.e. poles & roofs).
- Ability to work with small components and wires to make cable connections.
- Ability to travel to/from assigned locations, and markets. This job consists of some travel for extended periods of time out of town and to other states or regions as required.
- Ability to work outside for extended periods in any season and/or during inclement weather.
- Experience working with complex structure cabling, including multi and single count fibers, CAT 5/6 cabling.
- Experience interacting with residential and commercial customers in a professional manner.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
