SERVER ASSISTANT
Reports to Restaurant Manager; position is non-exempt
THE ROLE
The Server Assistant reports to Food + Beverage Leadership and works in a team environment with other F+B professionals, including other server assistants, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs. It is critical the person in this position possesses a background and knowledge in service techniques and has a natural ability to manage time. Responsibilities include but not limited to bringing food to our customer on a timely matter. They will also be in charge of cleaning the table and making sure guests needs are meet. This position will interact with everyone in the hotel so you must have strong and adaptable interpersonal skills, meaning you can get along with anyone. Another key need for this role is their ability to organize and be strategic when food items are being brought to the guest.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Clean, set and re-set tables continuously, assuming responsibility for station, tables and side duties
- Complete opening and closing side work as assigned and have all tables set according to standard
- Carry trays, bus and reset tables with linen, china, glass and silver
- Ascertain a guest's satisfaction and handle any problem which may arise informing a manager of the problem and how it was resolved
- Stock linen, china, silver and glassware for service
- Keep accurate control of guest checks, credit vouchers, currency and posting procedures
- Record all guest charges, gratuities and cash transactions accurately
- Set up in-room orders on trays and tables and transport them to guest floors and rooms.
- Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Passion for the People, Place and Culture of our community, love of restaurants and guest service also required
- Minimum of one (1) years of experience as a Server Assistant in either a free-standing or hotel restaurant
- Valid WA Food Worker Card and Mandatory Alcohol Server Training Permit
- Ability to meet local age requirements in order to serve alcohol
- Availability to work a flexible schedule to include mornings, weekends and holidays
- Fluency in English, verbal and written
- Ability to continuously stand and/or walk for the majority of a shift, including negotiating wet tile floor and steps
- Fine motor coordination is needed to pour beverages, decorate cocktails and folding napkins
- Ability to roll and/or carry tables and chairs when needed
- Ability to lift and/or carry a 30 lb. tray, crate or box
- Ability to carry over shoulder occasionally
- Utilize hand and elbow movements for polishing glassware, silver, setting up tables
- Excellent sight and balance needed for negotiating varied floor surfaces
- Ability to handle lighted candles and hot fluids (coffee and tea)
- Ability to lift, balance and carry up to 25 lbs. to transport beverage goods inventory, equipment, etc.
- Ability to lift, balance and carry (with assistance) up to 100 lbs. to transport beverage inventory, equipment, etc.
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10*F) and kitchens (+110*F)
