About the Role

MWH is currently seeking a dynamic and resourceful Associate Attorney to join our legal team, providing support on contracts, compliance, risk management, and general corporate legal matters.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in a legal role, ideally within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.

Essential Functions



  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including construction agreements, subcontracts, and vendor agreements.
  • Assist with legal risk assessment and provide recommendations to minimize exposure.
  • Support compliance efforts related to industry regulations, licensing, and corporate governance.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including project management, procurement, and finance to ensure contract compliance.
  • Assist in managing claims, disputes, and litigation matters in coordination with outside counsel.
  • Review insurance requirements and risk mitigation strategies in contracts.
  • Support corporate legal functions, including entity management and employment-related legal issues.


Basic Qualifications



  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law or eligible for admission in Colorado
  • 1+ year of legal experience, preferably in corporate, construction, or AEC-related fields.
  • Knowledge of contract law, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
  • Experience with construction contracts (e.g. AIA, DBIA, or EJCDC) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with construction claims, liens, and dispute resolution is preferred.
  • Knowledge of alternative project delivery methods a plus (e.g. design-build, CMAR).
  • Understanding of public and private sector construction regulations is also a plus.

Compensation



  • The anticipated salary range for this position is $90,000-$140,000/yr, based on previous experience.
