Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at Denison University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2025. Areas of specialization and competence are open. A successful candidate will complement a pluralistic department with a tradition of excellence in undergraduate teaching in a liberal arts context and in active and rigorous scholarship. The candidate will teach a three-three course load including first-year writing courses and a course in their area of interest.

PhD in Philosophy by June 1 is preferred. (ABD will be considered as Instructor until PhD is attained.) Evidence of excellent teaching at the undergraduate level is a necessary condition for appointment.

Dossiers should include a letter of application addressing the candidate's potential contributions to the mission of the department (no longer than 2 pages), CV, three letters of recommendation, graduate school transcripts, evidence of successful teaching (teaching evaluations preferred), and a writing sample.
