The expected hiring range for this position is:

$84,900.00-$120,633.00.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such the scope and responsibilities of the position, qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Logistics Lead to oversee and coordinate the logistics crew in South Dakota. Responsibilities include managing daily operations, scheduling, personnel actions, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with all regulations for the import/export of materials and goods. The role involves optimizing logistics processes, resolving operational bottlenecks, and liaising with international partners, shippers, and customs.

What your day-to-day as Logistics Lead at Fermilab will look like:

  • Manage the logistics crew located in South Dakota, including setting work objectives, assigning work, and coordinating crew efforts. Controls or contributes to all personnel actions for the crew including hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Develop and optimize logistics processes and procedures required to import and export materials and finished goods in compliance with federal, state, local, and DOE regulations governing the transportation of materials and finished goods.
  • Provide daily scheduling and interface with logistics sub-contracts for storage and movement of materials.
  • Resolve bottlenecks and other logistics issues for Fermilab technical staff, international partners, customs officials, and shippers.
  • Schedules, controls, and manages shipping and receiving activities as well as overall fleet traffic.
  • Responsible for inventory control and liaises with technical teams to ensure availability of materials.
  • Review and maintain all documentation including supporting calculations of duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of products. Ensures all documentation is up to date and recorded in appropriate systems.
  • Verifies all payment transactions are completed according to requirements
  • Respond to operational and emergency requirements. Required to work and respond to emergency call-ins.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Abides by and is responsible for performing all duties in accordance with all environmental, health and safety regulations and practices pertinent to this position.

Skills and Attributes for Success:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in logistics, inventory, warehousing, and fleet scheduling.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience preferred.

Applicable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of warehousing/transportation systems and operations.
  • Experience at a Department of energy laboratory or similar environment preferred.
  • May be required to legally operate a government vehicle.

Work Arrangement:

Onsite: This is an onsite role, and the candidate must be able to work from our Lead, SD project location.
