I. JOB OVERVIEW


Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University Law School (GW Law) is a global law school that exists to make an impact on the law through the leadership of our diverse faculty and staff, the extraordinary influence of our extensive alumni network, and our location in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. GW Law is offering multiple one-year fellowships to recent law school graduates. This is a one-year position that will begin in March 2025 and end in March 2026. The selected incumbent will be placed as an external fellow at external sites. This is a one-year termed appointment.
GW Law Fellows assignments may include the following:

  • Assist attorneys with legal research, motions, advice memos, discovery, and trial.
  • Assist attorney's in gathering documents, answering interrogatories, or taking notes during a witness deposition.
  • Assist in drafting motions, advice memos, mediation statements and case briefs.


Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Juris Doctorate degree from accredited institution . Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

  • Admission to a state bar is not required at the commencement of the fellowship, but the successful candidateis expected to take a state bar exam and be admitted to practice within two years of receiving their JD.
  • Driver's license and willingness to travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Desired candidates will hold a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • GW Law Fellows should possess excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • The ability to learn new legal principles, manage a sizeable volume of work and deadlines, and respond to the needs of various stakeholders is key.
  • The successful candidate will be a diligent and hard worker, and a thinker who thrives in and can contribute to their office's fast-paced, collegial team environment.

Hiring Range $21.27 - $27.63
