The Technical Steward provides specialist knowledge of specific pharmaceutical processes or process technologies. This role oversees processes and standards to maintain and improve existing manufacturing technologies and implement new innovative manufacturing technologies. Knowledge Management:
- Owns the knowledge of specific pharmaceutical manufacturing process technologies, locally, including any pilot scale, scale up or down, and Design of Experiments (DoE).
- Assures that the necessary benchmark is done internally in Alcon and externally in the scientific and academic environment, in order to stimulate and extend the knowledge.
- SME for specific technology platform (e.g. aseptic filling, sterilization) or pharmaceutical process (e.g. chemical formulation) throughout the entire commercial lifecycle, from inception to date.
- Provides SME expertise to perform process characterization of related Pharmaceutical processes to increase robustness and sustainability.
- Investigate and assist technical development and implementation of new technologies (e.g., manufacturing equipment, Process Analytical Technology (PAT)).
- Collaborate with technical development organization, other sites, and global MS&T network to facilitate transfer of technical knowledge.
- Participate in the definition and selection of pharmaceutical equipment, through providing input to User Requirement Specifications (URS).
Improvement on Product/Process:
- Supports continuous process and quality improvements.
- Designs and controls optimization projects.
- Responsible to perform technical feasibility trials related to process improvement and implementation of new manufacturing technology.
- Supports Process Support Lead and Product Steward to perform process characterization to increase robustness and sustainability.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
- 5 Years of Relevant Experience
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science concentration preferred
- 8-10 year of experience in Manufacturing, MS&T and Quality
- 5 years of experience in executing process validation
- Strong Technical Writing skills and knowledge greatly preferred
- Proven process understanding of Pharma/GMP/Regulatory aspects.
