Product Development Technician II

The Product Development Technician II at Metronet is responsible for supporting the testing of customer premise equipment and managing tasks with accountability. This role involves collaborating on product design and development, creating and executing test plans, maintaining documentation, and participating in product certification and troubleshooting. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, with a preferred bachelor's degree and at least three years of telecommunications experience. Strong technical skills are required, including knowledge of network protocols, hardware configurations, and security fundamentals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and effective communication skills are also essential.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Assist in product development projects from concept through to production.
  • Participate in the design reviews and work in close collaboration with other disciplines to ensure product integrability and testability.
  • Create and execute test plans, maintain test records, and communicate test results.
  • Develop product documentation, user manuals, Methods of Procedures (MOP), Technical Specifications among other types of documentation.
  • Assist in the certification of products.
  • Assist in the development of testing procedures to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Actively participate in the resolution of the problems encountered.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned



JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Highschool Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 3 years' experience in telecommunications in a product development or product testing role.
  • Strong technical aptitude with solid analytic, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with the product development process.
  • Build productive internal/external working relationships.
  • Effectively organize and manage information from various sources.
  • Solid knowledge of the following.


    • LAN and WAN hardware configurations
    • Wireless/WLAN Technologies - 802.11n, ac,ax
    • Network protocols - IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS, IGMP, SIP, POTS, OSPF
    • IP protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, Spanning Tree, ISIS
    • Network Analysis Tools - Wireshark, NMAP, Iperf, Wireless Spectrum Analyzers
    • L2 switching/L3 routing.
    • Network Security fundamentals and best practices
    • Platforms: Cisco, Nokia, Adtran, Metaswitch VoIP/ SIP Softswitch and Session Border Controller and others.
