Position Overview
Assessment & Technology Solutions (ATS), a unit within the Achievement & Assessment Institute (AAI) at the University of Kansas (KU), helps public agencies develop high-volume, highly scalable and multi-device-compatible Software as a Service (SaaS) web applications to meet public needs. We are a team of experienced IT professionals with many years of high-volume software product development experience that analyze a client's technology needs and then design, develop, test, host, and provide post-production support for all web applications that we develop.
ATS is looking for an experienced and motivated Java/J2EE Software programmer/analyst to join its software development team. This individual will be part of a high performing technology team that is focused on designing and developing next generation learning solutions that are cross platform compatible. Day-to-day activities will include designing, developing, testing, and supporting the changes made to all enterprise class web applications used by K-12 schools nationwide to facilitate and enhance the student learning process. We appreciate your understanding and invite interested individuals from eligible states to apply. Job Description 65% - Design, develop, maintain and test web applications. Candidate will need to evaluate requirements provided by the client and develop technical specifications documenting required change/enhancement. From the documentation, develop code and unit test all code prior to turning over to QA.
25% - Be part of the core team member developing overall product specifications and software architecture including the determination of technology products to be used in the development effort. Work on problems of varying scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors. Work with technical leads to size work to be done. 10% - Evaluate ongoing changes within the industry to identify opportunities to enhance/improve the application. Evaluate new releases of all technology components used in the Kite technology stack. Recommend technology upgrades for the summer release, the value and risk associated with each upgrade, and the recommended upgrade approach with detailed development plan. Position Requirements This is a hybrid position and staff will be required to work on-site at our Lawrence, Kansas office 2-3 days/week. This position will require attendance at regularly scheduled meetings, onsite or through telecommunication platforms.

Advertised Salary Range $65,000-$80,000/year
