Mender

Job Summary:

• The Mender inspects and repairs defects within the carpet, assist in creel, burn-in and pack out when needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Inspect and repair defects in carpet
• Report to supervisor any unusual or excessive defects in carpet
• Keep daily production report
• Responsible for keeping work area clean
• Run tufting machine while operator is away from machine
• Assist in creel as needed
• Responsible for Burn-in duties
• Assist in pack-out as needed

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

• Lifting is required of cores weighing 10 to 20 lbs. 6 to 8 times per shift
• Require standing approximately 6 hours per shift
• Require reaching to splice beams and mend carpet
• Require stooping 6 to 8 times per shift for intervals of 30 seconds
• Require bending to wrap rolls and thread needles on machines
• Must be able to use scissors 20 to 30 times per shift
• Burn splicer must be used 12 times per shift
• Must be able to use snips 20 to 30 times per shift
• Must be able to distinguish colors and shade differences
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, and kneel

Experience/Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to read and write and do basic addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.

Other Requirements:

• Overtime is required on occasion.
• All accidents must be reported immediately.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
• Safety equipment must be worn as required.
• Report to management any quality, safety, or potential problems encountered while performing the job.
• Responsible for quality and safety of his/her own output.
