Due to our continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and growth-oriented person to join our team as the Project Manager in Missoula, Montana. This position is an exempt, full-time role with flexible hours, and reports to the Director of Operations - West. Travel may be required, but should be minimal, mainly training-based.

The Project Manager will work with all departments and is a vital link between the Sales and Operations functions, providing organization and management throughout the entire project lifecycle up to including scheduling, equipment maintenance and organization, logistics, customer communication, submittal documentation, and project accounting.

Some of the key responsibilities include:



  • Oversight of multiple projects simultaneously and managing customer satisfaction during the project
  • Communication with all departments as related to working with the project and the customer
  • Coordinating with all departments as applicable to keep SS on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules
  • Regular contact with salespeople to convey the availability of equipment to help avoid the overcommitment of traffic control assets
  • Plan/anticipate resources needed to execute projects in an effective and efficient manner
  • Develop and manage workplans for projects including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Monitor project progress and adjust as needed
  • Facilitate change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedules and SS costs related to projects, including additional billing to the customer as applicable
  • Review of project performance to identify areas for improvement
  • Meeting with project team members to identify and resolve issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications



  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent


  • Experience: 1-2 years of project management and related experience


  • Valid driver's license and ability to qualify for a DOT medical card to drive a Commercial Motor Vehicle.
  • Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with other digital/online platforms such as NetSuite. CRM, and more



Preferred Qualifications



  • Heavy highway construction background
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience overseeing a construction project(s)



Physical and Mental Demands

The Project Manager is predominantly an office-based role, but may at times require assisting with the transportation, setup, and deployment of equipment. The primary physical and mental demands include:




  • Remains in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment, such as a scanner, copy machine and printer.
  • Communicates with others in their area of expertise, both internally and externally. Exchanges accurate information in these situations.
  • Frequently moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds typically, but at times up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally, the individual in this position will need to stand, reach, bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include normal vision.
  • The office environment will have normal lighting and climate control tolerances.
  • Additionally, the office setting will have moderate noise exposure, i.e., business office with computers, printers, and light traffic.
  • Travel conditions may involve being in an aircraft or automobile for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed mostly in a company office for a minimum of 40 hours a week.
