Benefits Manager

The Benefits Manager is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, administration, and evaluation of associate benefits and leave programs. This role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, manages vendor relationships, and supports the organization's overall total rewards and retention strategy. The Benefits Manager will work closely with Associate Resources leadership, finance, and external partners to deliver competitive and cost-effective benefits that attract and retain top talent.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Develop, implement, and manage associate benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and other ancillary benefits.
  • Oversee leave of absence programs, including FMLA, workers' compensation, and other related leave programs to ensure compliance and effective administration all with a focus of ensuring a positive associate experience.
  • Ensure benefits programs comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
  • Partner with external benefits providers, brokers, and consultants to negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and evaluate plan effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute communication strategies to educate associates on benefits options, changes, and enrollment processes.
  • Plan and oversee annual open enrollment, including system updates, communication materials, and associate engagement efforts.
  • Analyze benefits utilization and cost data to assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Act as a point of contact for associates to resolve benefits-related issues and coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Develop and promote wellness programs that support associate well-being and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of benefits-related budgets, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining a competitive benefits offering.
  • Work closely with associate resources, payroll, and finance teams to ensure seamless benefits administration and alignment with overall total rewards strategy.
  • Other job-related duties as requested


JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or CEBS certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration (preferably with self-insured plans), with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Willingness to work as a team and independently.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.


ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:



  • Strong knowledge of federal and state benefits laws and regulations.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex benefits concepts to associates.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems
