Cox Enterprises is currently looking for a Corporate Counsel, Product and Marketing to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Role:

The Corporate Counsel, Product and Marketing will serve as a legal partner to both Cox Product Development and Marketing teams.

The candidate must be an experienced, independent generalist attorney who will be responsible for providing substantive legal advice and counsel to diverse teams developing and marketing new Cox products and services (broadband, video, telephone, mobile, and IoT) for residential and commercial business deployment, and supporting general marketing and sales operations (sponsorships, sweepstakes/contests, advertising review, campaign development, sales support, disclaimer drafting), customer-facing communications, drafting and negotiating contracts, and assisting with risk mitigation and compliance with applicable laws. This position reports to the AVP, Associate General Counsel - Commercial Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely advice and counsel on a broad range of day-to-day operational legal topics and larger strategic initiatives to management and teams responsible for developing all Residential and Commercial Products (broadband, video, telephone, mobile, and IoT products and services).
  • Establish and maintain detailed knowledge of Cox's products/services/brands.
  • Draft customer-facing terms and conditions and acceptable use policies.
  • Manage the process of trialing new products, including drafting of trial agreements.
  • Manage legal support for nationwide sponsorship agreements.
  • Draft contest and sweepstakes rules and advise on the same.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel at all levels of client organizations to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including state consumer protection laws, CAN-SPAM, and other sales/marketing regulations.
  • Review of ad copy, web, eCommerce site and other promotional materials, including TV/radio scripts, direct mail, print ads, billboards, in-store displays and other promotional pieces, for compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Manage Cox Media advertising agreements.
  • Advise business as to compliance with Cox Media advertising guidelines.
  • Partner with internal business clients to develop and execute action plans to resolve issues presented in areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with training client groups as needed to ensure compliance with laws.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal contacts, including, but not limited to leadership and business management, other in-house attorneys, Privacy, Compliance, Litigation, Government Affairs, Regulatory, Security, Risk Management, Finance, and other appropriate departments to ensure a high level of service and anticipate special issues.
  • Identify and help to address difficult problems that may not be solved using existing practices and procedures; respond to and adapt to changing conditions or circumstances, requiring enterprise alignment and new approaches; identify and engage business clients in opportunities to improve efficient delivery of legal services.
  • Engage and manage outside counsel in an effective and efficient manner.


Qualifications:

  • Juris doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active/licensed member in good standing of at least one state bar.
  • 3+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
  • Ability to manage outside counsel.
  • Business-minded attorney with strong initiative, a "can-do" attitude, executive presence, excellent client counseling, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, who likes working side-by-side with business teams and is receptive to all views and feedback.
  • A focus on client needs with a commitment to timing, quality, and client service while handling multiple matters simultaneously.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize and follow through on numerous projects.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage outside counsel efficiently and effectively.
  • Ability to partner with subject matter experts and other in-house attorneys to provide seamless experience to internal clients in addressing and resolving legal issues.
  • Business-minded attorney with strong initiative, excellent client counseling, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. A business partner, who likes working side-by-side with business teams and can effectively manage opposing views.
  • A focus on client needs with a commitment to timing, quality, and client service.
  • A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize and follow through on numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent customer service, time management, project management and follow-up skills.


Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in Marketing and/or Product Development.
  • Experience in communications, technology, advertising and/or video industry.


USD 159,400.00 - 265,600.00

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $159,400.00 - $265,600.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
