Your role in our success will be...

The Manager, Meter Services provides leadership to the meter reading supervisors, meter readers, and management of company advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) initiative. The role authorizes and implements relevant changes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and sustainable practices and plans, budgets, and allocates all necessary resources to meter reading and automated meter reading. The Manager spends significant time with employees establishing project objectives and then managing a team of operators, consultants, and third-party vendors to achieve those objectives.

What you'll be working on...



  • Provides strategic directions for all metering functions in line with corporate and business unit goals. Accountable for meter standardization, first articles on new products, while maintaining or improving accuracy of measurement for revenue billing.
  • Implements policies and objectives related to the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) initiative.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates Gas and Electric Meter training for new products (hardware and software) and processes.
  • Develops and monitors department procurement forecasts and trends.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with suppliers of all metering equipment.
  • Promotes communication, information exchange, problem resolution and employee recognition.
  • Conducts performance coaching/appraisals and the recruitment, development, training, engagement and retention of team members to adequately staff the department.
  • Oversees industrial and commercial field meter testing.
  • Stays abreast of changes and updates to Itron software and Automated Meter Reading handheld devices and provides. testing/troubleshooting/training on new features.
  • Monitors performance of Meter Readers to ensure meters are being read properly.
  • Develops efficient, organized, and productive work plans (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) that allocate department resources effectively to achieve desired objectives in a timely manner.


Who you are...



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years' experience in in the utility industry with two (2) years managing a team in the meter reading function.
  • Working knowledge of Public Service Commission (PSC) & Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of Advanced Meter Reading (AMR) systems and Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) networks.
  • Working knowledge of Field Collection System (FCS), Field Deployment Management (FDM), System Advanced Metering and Reading (STAR), and other meter reading software.
  • Understands the operation and capabilities of automated meter reading systems.
  • Clear and direct communication skills.
  • Experienced in coaching and mentoring.
  • Skilled in planning and strategic thinking.
  • Ability to manage a remote team across Florida business units.
  • Ability to travel across Florida divisions.
