Primary Purpose

The Corporate Financial Reporting Accountant applies in depth knowledge to perform the timely and accurate preparation of the Company's internal and external financial reporting, including the preparation of the Company's monthly consolidated analyses and SEC filings on Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K, with minimal direction from senior team members, supervisors and/or managers.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Assists with the financial reporting process in support of filing quarterly, annual and current reports with the SEC (Forms 10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K). This includes preparation of supporting workpapers, the SEC/U.S.
  • GAAP disclosure checklist and eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) tagging. Also assists with preparation of the quarterly earnings release materials and the annual statistical report.
  • Prepares workpapers and consolidating journal entries on a monthly basis to support consolidated financial statements and fluctuation analyses used in reports provided to senior management.
  • Coordinates with accounting teams and other departments (e.g., business units, legal, finance, etc.) across Sempra and its subsidiaries for data collection and questions/issues related to the monthly and quarterly financial close.
  • Assists with continuous improvements to various financial reporting processes, including assisting in the implementation of upgrades to our financial reporting software (Workiva).
  • Performs technical accounting and SEC research related to areas of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
