Responsibilities

Mountain Youth Academy (a UHS company) is seeking a Teacher (Licensed) to join our growing team! Come make a difference in the life of a child and love what you do!!

Mountain Youth Academy is centrally located near Johnson City, TN, Boone, NC, and Abingdon, VA. We are a 120-bed residential treatment facility and assist in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health issues for our young adolescent patients.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for planning and providing instruction for students assigned to his/her classroom. He/She participates in departmental meetings and completes paperwork pertaining to assessment, individualized education plans, monitoring student progress, write lesson plans that reflect instruction goals that support the state standards for student's grade level and/or IEP goals, report student progress, and transition planning as related to each student's educational needs. Provides education case management for students assigned to his/her classroom. He/She must maintain ongoing communication with the families and involved agencies for each student. Work with TACF administrator to ensure all grant requirements are met on a monthly and yearly basis

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (include, but are not limited to, the following)

  • Administers and interprets informal educational assessments as assigned in order to plan each patient's educational program
  • Administers formal educational assessments as assigned in order to plan for IEP.
  • Must provide individualized instruction for all patients assigned to classroom and provide necessary accommodations as prescribed by the IEP as evidenced by lesson plan submitted to Director of Education on a weekly basis
  • Provides educational and behavioral strategies for working with patient as requested.
  • Writes monthly academic and behavioral progress notes for each patient.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • BA required Master preferred
  • Must hold a valid Tennessee Teaching License or be Permit Eligable
  • Must have a good working knowledge of Tennessee Special Education regulations, IEP development and behavior management techniques.
  • Previous classroom experience in a mental health setting is preferred.
