The Student Health Center (SHC) is seeking a full-time Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician to join our team. The SHC is a part of the Student Health and Well-Being (SHWB) within the Division of Student Affairs and is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

The SHC offers comprehensive primary care medicine, student-centric screening, psychiatry services, and other health and public health related services. This position will diagnose and treat students in need of acute, chronic, and preventative care. Our integrated and wholistic approach allows the SHC to also coordinate treatment with counselors at the MU Counseling Center (MUCC) and other health and well-being resources at the University of Missouri.

Job Description

Duties (including, but not limited to):

As directed by the Medical Director, coordinates select QA, QI, and CME projects, and prepares month-end reports on SHC student utilization, provider efficiency, and other relevant data. Collaborate with the Medical Director and SHC Director on short- and long-term strategic planning for medical services, including researching and presenting opportunities for service expansion to MU SHC patients and students. Represents SHC in external engagements as requested by the Medical Director or SHC Director.

As scheduled, provide direct care to MU SHC patients. Act as a collaborating physician for nurse practitioners and supervising physician for physician assistants as assigned. Approximately 80% of time is spent in clinic with 20% responsibilities on admininstrative functions. In the absence of the Medical Director, serves as the leader of the medical staff as directed by the Student Health Center Director.

Contributes to a collaborative environment at the SHC, ensuring students and patients receive exceptional care in an extraordinarily caring environment.

* Assesses and diagnoses patients, provides medical treatments, performs procedures, and prescribes medications as needed, in compliance with federal, state, university, and SHC laws and standards.

* As directed, occasionally reviews records and provider documentation to support quality improvement or risk management efforts. May also be asked to provide consultation and/or clinical case management resulting from review.

  • Provides assessment and input regarding current clinical patient care practices or clinical operations at the SHC, offering recommendations, and presenting findings to leadership and various groups, as assigned.
  • Participates in SHC events and activities as directed, including remote clinics, well-being programs, and occasionally attend meetings on campus with MU staff, faculty, and students to promote health and well-being.
  • Actively pursues continuing education to enhance personal and team knowledge, support colleagues, and raise awareness of health and well-being issues affecting University of Missouri students. Approaches challenges with professionalism, identifies realistic solutions, offers suggestions to leadership and strives for improvements while ensuring high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care.
  • Assists the Medical Director in collecting data and generating accurate, timely reports, contributing to the continuous improvement of patient and student care at the Student Health Center.
Shift

Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid license to practice medicine in the State of Missouri is required.
  • Successful completion of an allopathic or osteopathic residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), along with board certification, or evidence of active pursuit of board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications

  • A proven commitment to student-centered care.
  • A collaborative, whole center, team-based approach to provide exceptional healthcare and ensure a top-tier student experience.
  • Experience in college health, including working with diverse student populations regarding public health and well-being.
  • Proficiency in performing minor procedures, including primary care procedures such as biopsies, excisions, skin lesion destructions, incision and drainage, toenail excisions, laceration repairs, etc.
  • Comfort and experience with open-access scheduling models.
  • Experience with and preference for working within an integrated primary care and mental health model.
  • Familiarity and comfort with electronic health records (EHR) systems, Microsoft platforms, along with strong computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, staff, and colleagues
  • A minimum of 2 years practicing medicine post-residency is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of direct management and/or supervisory experience of fully licensed physicians in a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience or sports medicine certification.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Anticipated hiring range: $200,000-$250,000 annually.
