Microscopy Technician 4

In the SEM Lab, we serve as the eyes for Lam's process development teams. Our objective is high volume metrology data generation, with rapid turnaround times to facilitate more experimental iterations and a faster time to solution.

Your work will generate critical data for Lam's process development and is essential for demonstrating Lam's product to the customer. You will need to be proficient in analytical techniques centered around Focused Ion Beam - Scanning Electron Microscopes. Mastering these tools will require an understanding of the science of their operation, as well as a thoughtful and open-minded approach that can yield innovations in their operation.

• Operate a state-of-the-art focused Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscope to prepare thin lamellae imaging specimens from semiconductor samples.
• Learn to setup and monitor automatic tool operations.
• Integrate automatic tool operation into a productive workflow, including sample transfer to imaging services.
• Receive and integrate feedback from imaging in service of continuous improvement to the sample preparation process.

• Candidates interested in the field of electron microscopy as a career.
• Understanding of relevant physics - electromagnetics, kinetics.
• Sees task repetition as an opportunity to iterate and innovate better methods.
• Careful, detail-oriented observer.
• Fond of learning and responds well to feedback.

• A BS degree in a physical science, a specialized AS degree or equivalent professional training on materials science and analytical techniques preferred.
• Experience working in a laboratory setting.
• Experience or knowledge of continuous process improvement a plus.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
