Overview

Position Description The Director, Area Sales is responsible for managing the promotion of the QIAGEN's portfolio of products. He/she implements company strategy and drives revenue growth through developing and implementing territory-specific plans. To implement his/her territory-specific plan, the Director leads and manages a team that consists of Customer Solution Managers and other Specialist support functions. This role must manage, develop, and lead this team to ensure optimization of product messaging and implementation of the corporate strategic plans, and resulting tactical plans, in the achievement of budget attainment. This position is responsible for budget achievement, tracking business, identifying and understanding market trends, monitoring CRM system (salesforce.com) compliance, and driving all initiatives, to ensure excellent execution by his/her team. The Director must work effectively across other areas of the organization including, but not limited to, marketing, customer service, technical support, and inside sales for maximum revenue generation. They must communicate effectively with key customers, including, but not limited to, lab scientists, lab managers, principal investigators, medical directors, and finance. Target Account Segments, including but not limited to: Life Science Segments: - Academic and Research Institutions. - Cancer and Bio bank Facilities. - Government Laboratories. Industrial Segments: - Pharmaceutical Accounts. - Contract Research Organizations. - Biotech and Industrial Accounts. - Plant and Agricultural. Position Requirements - Education level - minimum of Bachelor of Science or equivalent with Masters or MBA a plus. - A minimum of 8 years of directly related sales experience with proven track record in Life Science or Molecular Diagnostics Industry. - Previous management experience. - Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills & CRM systems (salesforce.com a plus). - Proven successful leadership, team management and budget experience. - Knowledge of relevant markets, molecular biology topics and products. - Strong time management and organization skills. Personal Requirements - 80+% of time spent in field, willingness to travel and valid driving license required. - Overnight travel required (up to 50%). - Location: West region (ideally based in California).
