* Salary: $50,000 - $55,000

Job Functions: Lead all aspects of the PromiseLand Early Childhood program including day to day operations, staff supervision, coordination with Head Start and management of Child Advocates. The position also focuses on the parents, teachers and staff and providing them with training and tools to support the learning and development of all children.

Essential Responsibilities:

PromiseLand Administration

Program Oversight of the early childhood programs. Where there are improvements needed, develop and implement programs/processes to address the needs

  1. Assesses program quality, parent involvement, staff development, education component, and performance guidelines.
  2. Coordinates in-service training and facilitates team meetings and ensure team attends other meetings as assigned.
  3. Conducts or delegates with follow up; inspections of classrooms, work areas, grounds, playground, and transportation to ensure safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness of facilities, staff and child file audits.
  4. Coordinates, tracks and reports with follow-up tracking of school readiness vouchers, funding and parent volunteer hours.
  5. Hires, trains and supervises early childhood and school-age staff.
  6. Guide the team in trainings, program implementation, documentation and outcomes reporting.
  7. Facilitates staff access to external continuing education opportunities as indicated.
  8. Builds relationships with community partners such as colleges and Universities, provider of comparable services, neighborhood leaders and agencies that, working together with us will, enhance the effectiveness of Ministries' services.

Therapeutic Program

  1. Create a learning environment which mitigates the effects of trauma.
  2. Provide individual and group support through special programs such as art, music, PE, gardening
  3. Oversee the preschool community garden: engage children, teachers and parents in keeping of the garden.
  4. Collaborate with community partners to provide enrichment programs
  5. Engage and lead volunteers and community and University partners in offering enrichment programs to children; Select, train, equip, evaluate and recognize interns, volunteers and community partners.
  6. Participate in regular team meetings to develop plans for families and monitor progress.

Quality Program

  1. Lead quality improvement initiatives such as Quality Counts and Accreditation Process.
  2. Ensure child and staff records are up to date and in compliance with licensing and accreditation.
  3. Direct supervision, mentoring and coaching of teaching staff.
  4. Provide and/or coordinate trainings for teachers to increase effectiveness and ensure the highest quality program.
  5. Act as the liaison between PromiseLand and Head Start to ensure a collaborative and quality partnership.
  6. Represent PromiseLand in ECE Quality trainings, association meetings and community events.
  7. Oversee and support the Community First Hug Child Advocates; oversee the assessment, identification and referral of developmental needs and school enrollments of children birth - middle school participating in program
  8. Ensure Child Advocates coordinate all services with Family Advocates
  9. Coordinate Child Advocates to serve as Early Literacy Specialists with PCHP
  10. Oversee the collection and reporting of screening data as it pertains to outcomes of grant.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

A minimum of an AA degree in an education, health or social services related field or 10 years' experience in childcare field. Direct experience working with children and parents required.

Skill Requirements:

Must be able to work effectively with children and parents, representing and communicating their status and progress to small groups and professionals within a network comprised of the Hillsborough County School District, Metropolitan Ministries service providers, and applicable and related medical social service providers in the surrounding community. Must be able to work within a multi-disciplinary team framework; strong interpersonal and supervisory skills; strong oral and written communications skills; dependability; demonstrates maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in clients served; ability to handle job related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner; willing to work with minimal supervision yet be able to accept direction; well organized and detail oriented. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Access, Word and Excel required.

Requires heart for ministry and comfort working with poor and homeless families and individuals.

Requires understanding of poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population. Must demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing and speaking ability, which allows for effective oral communication; physical and emotional stamina to effectively handle job related issues and stress.

Other:

Must pass applicable pre-employment screening and demonstrate legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be available to work during normal school hours and for evening meetings as required. Must pass required background pre-employment screening. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to transport self and clients when necessary.
