Position Overview:

Apply your impeccable eye for detail and thorough knowledge of accounting/payroll activities to support the operations of a top player in the electrical contracting industry. In this role, you will be responsible for payroll and employee information, preparation and submission of tax and benefit payments, reporting, and maintaining records and confidentiality. You will join a team with a wide range of experience in accounting within the construction industry. Help continue the success of a company with over a 100-year legacy!

Location:



  • This position is based in our York corporate office and, after training, this person will have some flexibility to occasionally work from home when appropriate.
  • Occasional travel as necessary to other offices or yard locations, trainings, and offsite meetings.
  • Additional customer related travel may also be required at customer facilities.



Responsibilities:



  • Assist with weekly preparation of multi-state/union payroll.
  • Prepares payroll tax and benefit payments and required reporting.
  • Updates payroll records by reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, and department/division transfers.
  • Ensures payroll software is updated to reflect our current employee base and reviews new hire onboarding forms.
  • Assist with external requests for Verification of Employment and Unemployment Insurance Claims.
  • Determines payroll liabilities through the calculation of employee federal, state income, and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and worker's compensation payments.
  • Reconcile weekly payroll processing to general ledger posting.
  • Assist with audit requests, quarterly payroll tax reporting, and monthly union benefit reporting.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements.
  • Complies with local union requirements for all union employees.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Follows proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.



Qualifications:

Required:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 - 5 years of progressive, multi-state payroll experience.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications and computerized payroll and accounting software (Viewpoint Vista preferred).


Other:



  • Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorizations per the Federal I-9 requirement.
  • Office experience in a higher paced environment.
  • Valid Driver's License
