The Springer Nature Opening Doors internship, Science and Engineering Books is a paid opportunity in the US to gain experience in research and science news publishing in our journals, books or magazines. The successful applicant will spend up to six months within Science and Engineering Books, part of the Research Publishing division of Springer Nature. If selected for this internship, you will be working closely with a team of acquisitions editors in Science & Engineering to manage a prestigious book program. Specific tasks may include: assisting in the peer review process for new books, identification of new potential authors and publishing opportunities (including use of data-driven tools to identify growth areas where there is a gap in the book literature), helping authors prepare manuscripts for production, ensuring information in databases is accurate and up-to-date, writing marketing texts, attending external meetings, and related duties. Publishing over 1500 books a year, the Sciences Books team disseminate both fundamental and applied science via research monographs, textbooks for the higher education market, and books for professionals in Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Mathematics & Statistics, and interdisciplinary areas.
