Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Clinical Trials Institute (UW CTI) is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) and UW Health. It supports clinical research professionals, investigators, and participants to advance discovery and research in the prevention, detection, and treatment of disease to help improve the health of individuals, families, and communities across Wisconsin and beyond. Our exceptionally talented workforce provides care, support, and information to clinical trials participants; resources, training, and guidance to research professionals; and opportunities for industry partners to advance groundbreaking medical research.

The Clinical Research Training and Development Manager will be responsible for building, maintaining and enhancing a competency-driven education program for clinical research professionals, investigators, and partners. This role will be integral to ensuring high-quality clinical research through the development of robust onboarding programs, continuing education initiatives, and professional development opportunities that align with national benchmarks and regulatory standards, including Good Clinical Practice.

Using adult learning principles and a mix of technology-based, in-person, and blended training methods, the manager will create and deliver engaging training programs that support compliance, research excellence, and professional growth. This position will work closely with clinical research leaders and institutional stakeholders to identify training needs, address areas for development, and implement innovative learning strategies. Additionally, the manager will oversee faculty engagement, instructional resources, and quality assurance metrics to ensure the effectiveness and impact of training initiatives and support the Clinical Trial Institute's quality management and compliance goals.

This is a dynamic opportunity for a clinical research or training and development professional passionate about advancing clinical research education and workforce competency.

The incumbent will need to possess excellent time management skills, have the ability to work independently or collaboratively, manage multiple projects despite interruptions, have experience with adult learning techniques, closely track details, and continuously look for process improvements.


Responsibilities:
Implements education and training and assists with the development and coordination of organizational learning programs to support and enhance the knowledge and skills of all employees. Facilitates training sessions, serves as a point of contact to new employees, and may supervise staff.

  • 25% Implements an education system for a variety of staff and partners, including planning and scheduling orientation, an education curriculum for on-the-job training based on role, and a mentorship program
  • 15% Establishes competencies for main job functions for new and existing employees within the unit
  • 15% Implements an ongoing training series incorporating feedback from a variety of documents and information
  • 10% Serves as the point of contact to new employees for training and certification activities and ensures compliance with mandatory training for new and ongoing staff
  • 15% Facilitates training sessions covering a variety of relevant topics
  • 10% Assists with education of and documentation creation for policies, procedures, tutorials, guidance, and supplemental forms
  • 10% Develops and manages investigator competency assessments and training for new and existing employees

Qualifications:

Required:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical trials operations
- Experience with adult learning techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and FDA regulations

Preferred:
- Clinical Research Certification
- Experience developing and delivering clinical trials education

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

The starting salary for the position is $87,473 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.

University sponsorship is not available for this position, including transfers of sponsorship.
