RK&K is seeking a motivated and creative Traffic Engineer to join our highly respected traffic group in Raleigh, NC.

As a Traffic Engineer with RK&K you will work alongside and collaborate closely with one of the largest, most talented groups of traffic engineers and transportation professionals in the industry. Responsibilities and expectations for this role are as follows:

Responsibilities/Functions:



  • Perform traffic analysis and engineering work on projects ranging from small scale studies and design for isolated intersections to complex solutions for urban arterial networks and major highway systems.
  • Perform traffic analysis and engineering tasks such as: transportation safety studies, transportation planning studies, and traffic operations analysis
  • Complete traffic impact studies, including the development of traffic forecasts
  • Use tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS and VISSIM to plan, visualize & analyze traffic-related projects
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Work closely as part of a team, collaborating effectively with teammates and clients


Requirements/Must Haves:



  • Between 0-2 years of professional and progressive experience in traffic engineering and analysis
  • Exceptional writing, verbal communication and presentation skills, including public speaking
  • Familiarity/Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual and AASHTO guidelines
  • Familiarity/Experience with HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic and/or VISSIM


Educational Requirements and Certifications:



  • Minimum bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related
  • Successfully passed or able to pass the fundamentals of engineering exam or the ability to complete within 6 months of hire


Preferred Skills:



  • Master's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Experience with Highway Safety Manual, Highway Capacity Manual and MUTCD
