Job Responsibilities:
Position Summary: Responsible for the oversight of the agency's financial planning and analysis activities, providing forecasts, budgeting and financial insights to senior leadership. Lead a team responsible for driving performance through detailed financial modelling, variance analysis, and strategic recommendations.

Essential Functions:

* Lead the annual budgeting process and manage the development of financial forecasts, working closely with agency leadership to ensure alignment with company goals. Provide regular updates on performance against budget, identifying key variances and opportunities for improvement.

* Assist with the production of periodic financial reports, ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

* Supervise team of accounting and financial planning professionals, including but not limited to Senior Accountants, and accounts receivable.

* Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting. Ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to all funding sources as required.

* Oversee the preparation of detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend reporting, and scenario modeling. Present findings and recommendations to CFO and/or senior leadership as necessary to support strategic decision-making.

* Work closely with the CFO and Executive Leadership Team to provide financial insights that inform long-term strategic planning. Develop financial models that support key business decisions.

* Monitor financial and operational performance across the agency, identifying trends and potential risks. Provide actionable insights to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

* Assist with maintenance of internal financial controls and safeguards for all programs.

* Supervise financial staff and activities, including but not limited to general ledger accounting, financial analysis, and grants administration.

* Meet regularly with WCS leadership to review financial status of programs.

* Provide training, guidance and direction to employees to ensure work is performed in an efficient, timely and knowledgeable manner. Evaluate departmental performance and make adjustments to daily operations when needed to ensure the department meets overall goals and objectives.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Knowledgeable in financial data analysis, budgeting and forecasting.

* Ability to conceptualize project funding structures.

* Familiarity with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) operating and reporting requirements.

* Knowledge of and adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and specifically non-profit accounting principles and applications.

* Advanced skills in working with Excel spreadsheets and accounting software.

* Highly proficient in utilization of Microsoft Office and other business software.

* Ability to multi-task, prioritize and delegate responsibilities in an effective and efficient manner.

* High level of emotional intelligence and maturity

* Expert problem solver and analytical thinker.

* Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.

* Ability to manage a department and supervise staff.

Qualifications:

* Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required

* CPA and / or advanced degree in business-related field strongly preferred

* 5+ years of relevant accounting experience

* 3+ years of experience working in a nonprofit environment

* Previous experience supervising and leading a team is desired

Work Relationship and Scope:

Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with Accounting Manager, CEO, Vice Presidents and Administrators. Supervises Accountants, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll staff. Interacts with funding sources, employees, supervisors, program directors, bankers, outside vendors, and auditors. Must be able to work both independently and from a team approach.

Working Conditions:

Professional office working environment. Required to enter data into computing devices via keyboards. Work is performed while sitting for extended periods of time with the ability to move about at will.

Physical Demands:

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle objects and controls. Must possess hand and finger dexterity for data entry.
