MLS Distance Learning program track. This position includes teaching, advising, and distance learning coordinator responsibilities. The
MLS department offers a baccalaureate degree in both traditional and online formats. |

MLS Department seeks candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and the ability to effectively engage students using a variety of educational technologies. The successful candidate will advise and support
MLT-
MLS distance learning track students and participate in the department's service and research initiatives. Candidates must show dedication to liberal education, medical laboratory science, and their own professional development. Participation in professional and interprofessional organizations and conferences is expected.
Required qualifications and skills include:
- A minimum of a master's degree in medical laboratory science or health-related field, or higher education from an accredited institution.
- Current national certification in medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
- Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) certification in teaching practices.
- At least three years of work experience in medical laboratory science and one year of teaching experience, including hybrid or online formats, at the college or university level.
- Proficiency in test construction, statistical analysis, and instructional reinforcement to support student learning outcomes.
- Effective communication and assessment skills, with the ability to mentor and support learners in academic and professional development.

Preferred candidates will have a doctoral degree in a health-related field or higher education from an accredited institution, more than five years of clinical experience, and over two years of teaching experience in a medical laboratory science program. |
Required License or Certification |
Candidates must hold at least a master's degree (doctorate preferred) from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant field. They must also have national certification in medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology (
ASCP or
AMT), along with experience in teaching and distance learning, and evidence of scholarly activity.

MLT - MLS Program Manager (60% of workload responsibility)
Instructional and Student Support Services: Plan and coordinate instructional activities and student support services for distance learning students in collaboration with university offices. Compliance and Outcomes Achievement: Define and meet learning and other outcomes as outlined by the National Accreditation Agency of Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and the University of North Carolina. Enrollment Management: Manage, maintain, and communicate enrollment information to both current and prospective students. Student Advising: Provide academic advising and counseling to students regarding their program of study through various communication channels, including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, emails, and printed materials. Assessment and Reporting: Administer assessment tools such as surveys and interviews, compile data, and prepare detailed reports that summarize findings. Teaching and Faculty Support: Teach a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester (includes 3-credit course release and other adjusted workload activities). Assist and advise distance learning faculty in developing and delivering distance learning curricula and course design. Supervision: Effectively utilize the resources of the MLS Student Support Specialist for DL support within their scope of that position's duties. Faculty Coordination: Collaborate with the MLS Program Director and Department Chair in hiring qualified faculty for instruction and course development in distance learning. Marketing and Communications: Develop and distribute marketing materials such as brochures, newsletters, and advertisements. Use electronic platforms to market programs and courses. Diversity Engagement: Work effectively with a diverse student population, fostering an inclusive learning environment. Marketing and Recruitment: Promote the program and recruit students, particularly from North Carolina Community Colleges, through campus opportunities, site visits, and presentations. Articulation Agreements:Establish and maintain articulation agreements with community colleges to streamline student transitions. Market Analysis:Identify potential student markets and forecast enrollment growth. Course Coordination: Work closely with the MLS Program Director to coordinate departmental course offerings. Graduation Clearance: Review and evaluate student transcripts to ensure all graduation requirements are met. Committee Participation: Serve as an active member of MLS Department committees, contributing to departmental governance and decision-making.

eaching and Advising
(40% of workload responsibility)
- Teach medical laboratory science courses, primarily online, with some face-to-face or hybrid teaching as needed.
- Provide didactic and simulated clinical lab instruction at the undergraduate level, particularly in curriculum areas related to education and leadership.
- Develop course syllabi, design relevant activities, assess student performance, and provide timely feedback.
- Hold office hours, meet regularly with the program director and department chair, and participate in department, school, and university meetings.
- Advise and mentor students on academic matters and foster a supportive, student-centered learning environment.
Scholarship, Research, and Creative Activity
- Potential to develop a research agenda.
- Potential to publish scholarly work in peer-reviewed journals related to medical laboratory science or higher education.
- Present at local, state, national, or international professional conferences and meetings within the discipline or interprofessional fields.
University, Professional, and Community Service and Engagement
- Participate in department, school, and university committees.
