Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group - Heil Environmental

Location: Fort Payne, AL

Reports To: Continuous Improvement Director

Department: Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Continuous Improvement Implementation Specialist will assist in leading Kaizen events in all aspects of the business. As the Continuous Improvement Specialist, this role you will assist in driving targeted performance improvement projects by facilitating Kaizen Events and Just-Do-It improvements in 5S, Visual Management, Standard Work, and Problem Solving. Learning, teaching, listening, facilitating and hands-on participating are the keys to success in this role. This includes foresting cultural transformation at Heil Environmental in Fort Payne, AL through mentoring, organizational training, and hands-on project support. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will work with colleagues and functional leaders in accomplishing continuous improvement goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Drive safety and environmental compliance.
  • Partner with area leadership to investigate incidents and initiate root cause corrective actions.
  • Drive quality improvements at the department level.
  • Work with Supervisors and Team Leaders to identify and prioritize Continuous Improvement activities in their areas. Work directly with Team Leaders and Team Members to rapidly implement improvements via projects, Kaizen Events, 5S Events, and Fast Problem-Solving activities.
  • Educate, coach, motivate, and mentor Team Members to transfer Lean skills and establish an engaged Continuous Improvement culture.
  • Engage team members in collaborative problem solving.
  • Successfully manage Kaizen Events and projects along with resources and deliverables.
  • Provide leadership direction and support to generate the expected results with the site, organization, supplier, and customer.
  • Regularly provide project status updates to stakeholders and team members.
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Assist with other strategic projects and duties as assigned.
  • Fill in for Quality Inspectors when needed.
  • Create / Assist with CBI's, Control plans and Work Instructions.
  • Minimal travel up to 10% is needed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or other applicable degree) is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of strategic and tactical experience to include demonstrated continuous improvement responsibility, experience in directing and managing large projects and influencing, coaching, driving and managing change.
  • Experience Kaizen Events and Lean techniques such as 5S, Visual Management, Standard Work, Problem-Solving, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Pull Systems, preferably in a high-mix, low volume environment.
  • Must have the ability to read and use CAD.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Coach, mentor and provide leadership to all team members. Must possess good people skills resulting in treating employees with respect while dealing with them in a firm, fair, consistent manner.
  • Must have good organizational skills and be a good delegator.
  • Requires ability to read, comprehend and follow complicated verbal instructions, use planning skills to organize work processes and be able to communicate effectively with his/her team and internal/external customers.
  • Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to communicate with outside sources and internal departments in person and via telephone. Requires the ability to read written instructions, correspondence, and other documentation, observe machinery and drawings, as well as operate office equipment such as computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and printers.

Continual Improvement and Problem Resolution: Identifies and communicates suggestions for work improvements. Uses technical and analytical abilities to assure existing work practices are the most efficient and cost effective possible. Performs root-cause analysis and implements viable, permanent solutions to problems. Works with both internal and external customers to develop solutions which meet company-wide needs and objectives. Applies a sense of urgency to resolve problems or creates opportunities that will increase productivity and create value. Shares best practices with other employees across the business.

Accountability: Accepts responsibility and accessibility for both the strategic planning and the successful implementation of all projects, programs, and duties as outlined in this job description. Advises supervisor of concerns, problems, and progress of work in a timely manner.
