Overview
Under the general direction of the Surplus Sales Coordinator, coordinates all aspects of a retail store operation. This includes - Directing and assisting employees in the timely retrieval of surplused items, inventorying, display and correct pricing of received items. Processing payments to complete sales of these items and assisting in the loading and delivery of items as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures the store is open and ready for sales Monday thru Friday at 8:00am
  • Assigns daily work projects and hours for student employees.
  • When necessary, personally assists in work projects and the moving of items. (This may require lifting items up to 100lbs)
  • Ensures that all Disposal Records are inventoried and reported accurately and completely.
  • Responsible for the proper pricing, arrangement and display of surplus items for sale.
  • Conducts live bids on items as necessary.
  • Travel to Statewide campuses as needed
  • Maintains correct balances in the sales till, including Credit Card, Checks and Cash.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of related work experience or an associates degree is required.
  • Must adhere to the university driving and traveling policy and be certified as a forklift operator, or must be willing to become Forklift Certified through USU Training.
  • Must have experience working with customers in a retail environment.
  • Must have experience handling cash.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Skill in organizing and coordinating the work and training of others
  • Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to apply mathematical skills
  • Ability to organize work flow to produce the most efficient productivity
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with co-workers, campus customers, and the public
  • Ability to supervise student employees and volunteers
  • Ability to prioritize work and accomplish tasks
