Scope of Position The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) Department of Pharmacys mission is to improve peoples lives through pharmacy practice innovation, comprehensive medication education, and collaborative clinical and practice research. The Assistant Director of Pharmacy- Supply Chain leads and manages all pharmacy procurement, distribution and inventory management functions. The scope of responsibility supports a $1B drug budget across The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, The James Cancer Hospital, and OSU Physicians, Inc. In this role, the Assistant Director maintains functional expertise, leads and participates within appropriate hospital or departmental committees, provides direct supervision of the sourcing managers, maintains liaison with external Group Purchasing Organizations and supports the strategic priorities of pharmacy sourcing. Position Summary This position is responsible for developing and implementing policies; assists in the development of operational strategy; translates strategic plans into operational plans and guides their execution. The pharmacy supply chain leader is directly accountable for all operational and regulatory frameworks elements surrounding drug purchasing including DSCSA, 340B, Ohio Board of Pharmacy, DEA and GPO Own Use. Interacts frequently with managers and stakeholders concerning projects and operational decisions; educates staff in various facilities outside the scope of the Department of Pharmacy on policies, practices, and procedures related to pharmacy procurement. Must possess strong planning skills and problem-solving skills. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with senior management team, internal supply chain stakeholders, external vendors and suppliers, and federal and state governing bodies. This position is also responsible for supervising PharmD students, residents, sourcing managers, buyers, and providing educational programs for providers, nurses, and pharmacy staff.
