Outpatient medical oncology is a busy department with patients being seen in clinic by a provider, either a Medical Oncologist or Nurse Practitioner. In addition we provide infusion services which may include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, or other IV therapies. Our clinic staff is made up of Nationally Certified Oncology RN's, Oncology Nurse Navigators, LPN's and secretarial staff to take care of patient needs.

Schedule Details:Monday - Friday varied day shifts. Weekend shifts will also be required every six weeks.


What You Will Do:

Infusion Nurses have formal clinical training, work closely with both the physician and APP and are responsible for providing quality care to our oncology patients. Patient care is becoming more complex requiring greater nursing intervention on a daily basis. The organizational goal of ProHealth Care is to provide high-quality, personalized care to our patients. The pool infusion nurse assists in covering staff vacation and sick days, and are essential to keeping the infusion center running smoothly.

Infusion nurses work independently in the treatment area providing chemotherapy/biotherapy, blood products, and other IV fluids through central and peripheral lines. The Infusion nurses cross-trained to work at all 3 Medical Oncology locations (Pewaukee, Mukwonago and Oconomowoc).

Infusion nurses are responsible for:



  • Providing education
  • IV and oral chemotherapy
  • Providing intervention and evaluation of patient needs
  • Reviewing pertinent lab data
  • Assessing patients and reporting patient changes to provider
  • Providing pre and post treatment care
  • Developing individualized plans of care for the patients
  • Performing blood transfusions, steroid transfusions, chemo/biotherapy infusions, and electrolyte and antibody infusions.
  • Collaborating and communicating with ordering provider throughout therapy
  • Completing nurse visits and updating provider with patients condition
  • Assisting with bone marrow biopsies



What You Will Need:



  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Provide Card/Certificate (preferred upon hire)
  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) after 2 years of employment
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required, BSN Preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a clinical setting that includes experiences in specialty.
