The Senior Program Manager, Engineering will manage all aspects of complex software and hardware engineering projects through their entire lifecycle. Work with teams to plan project requirements, break down high-level requirements to smaller pieces, gather effort estimates, plan resource allocation, develop schedules, identify and mitigate risks, and drive execution. Collaborate and communicate cross-functionally, foster coordination among different groups, and get things done. The successful candidate will be a strong program management professional with significant experience in managing software and hardware engineering projects, running Agile/Scrum teams, and consistently delivering projects on schedule and within budget.

DUTIES

  • Manage multiple concurrent engineering projects and product releases from inception to completion.
  • Collaborate within Engineering and with other cross-functional groups to develop project schedules, handling milestones, risks, and budget, along with ensuring proper resource allocation.
  • Coordinate schedules, tasks, and resources throughout the duration of a project.
  • Manage project risks and scope/requirement changes, and coordinate with Development/QA/Product Management to get them addressed appropriately.
  • Develop and present reports and metrics for project status/health, schedules, resources, and financials; conduct in-progress and retrospective project reviews and analyses.
  • Track and monitor projects and processes, develop and report on appropriate metrics, and recommend changes to optimize productivity and workflow.
  • Develop and promote Agile/Scrum engineering processes and practices, institute Agile discipline, and act as a champion of Agile within the team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience managing all aspects of complex engineering and technical development projects, including product releases
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and best practices, and demonstrated ability to apply these principles and practices to software and hardware engineering projects
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and running Agile engineering processes and practices and leading Agile teams
  • Ability to manage projects and processes with changing priorities and requirements
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to drive projects with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience in risk analysis and risk mitigation for engineering projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in running and facilitating meetings and communicating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Understanding of project financials and budgeting and experience in financial tracking and reporting for projects a plus
  • Some experience with business-to-government models, safety-critical control systems, and standards-driven product development preferred
  • Some familiarity with the traffic/transportation/ITS industry a huge plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, typically 6-8 hours per day, while working at a desk or computer.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and handling office tools or equipment.
  • Occasionally lifting or moving office supplies or equipment, typically weighing up to 20 pounds.

COMPENSATION

The base pay range for this full-time exempt position is $130,000 - $155,000 annually plus benefits. Pay ranges are determined by various factors, including role, experience, and location. The pay range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within the range, actual individual compensation is determined by various factors, including location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT
