Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue specialized research training, education, and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the biomedical (basic) research laboratory in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Davis Heart Lung Research Institute. In collaboration with the principal investigator (PI) Dr. Onur Kanisicak, the post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for designing, executing, and managing research projects and experiments of considerable scope and complexity investigating the tenets of tissue wound healing and remodeling in the areas of cardiovascular, pulmonary, and skeletal muscle biology. Post-doctoral researchers are to design, collect, and analyze data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and Institutions; perform critical analysis of literature relevant to research; identify and select future research areas to be studied; develop and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols; participate in training, mentoring and supervising junior members of the lab; attend and present research at seminars, national and international conferences; contribute to manuscript preparation and support technical writing; participate and assists with development, writing, and preparation of grant proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research; monitors and enforces laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, as well as local, state and federal regulations, including proper disposal and maintenance of regulated materials; performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirement: Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences required; Requires successful completion of a background check. The selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen. Essential Duties 10% Participates in the preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; participates in the preparation of manuscripts for publication; supports grant writing; performs additional duties as assigned. 20% Develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols that benefit the general research laboratory; prepares research results for publication in reports, papers, journals, books, and other media; prepares seminars and lectures for dissemination of knowledge, particularly the results of research undertaken; attends research reviews and seminars. 30% Develops new methods and areas of interest for future research; develops and details understanding of current relevant scientific literature. 40% Participates in experiment design and evaluation; executes experiments; performs data analysis; reports to principal investigator (PI). |
