What You'll Be Doing as a Manager, Quality Assurance:
Responsible for the execution and continued development of Leupold's Quality systems in the pursuit of excellence in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Leads and develops a team of quality personnel, including engineers and technicians, to fulfill departmental objectives and support the overall goals of the business. Engages as part of the Quality leadership team to develop departmental strategy and execute tactics to achieve set objectives. Actively advises the organization in problem solving initiatives and decision making relative business risk identification and mitigation.
Responsible scope for this position includes all areas of the business as well as external business partners. This role will implement and manage relevant quality processes, procedures, and training for the organization aimed at increasing process control, mitigating business risks, and optimizing Leupold's Cost of Quality. Responsible for identification, specification, and implementation of new technologies and methods that support Quality Assurance strategies both internally and across Leupold's supply chain.



  • Directs, develops, coordinates Quality focused activities of both Engineers and Technicians within the department.
  • Provides Quality based insights to the organization through key Quality metrics and drives continuous improvements based on those metrics.
  • Responsible for implementing system-based improvements, with respect to quality assurance.
  • Directs quality activities for new product introductions (NPI), ensuring robust design qualification and manufacturing verification.
  • Support production with reporting and analysis of component, product and machine capabilities where applicable.
  • Create and maintain all quality engineering processes, procedures, and work instructions for area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the control of documented information within the organization.
  • Provide procedures for vendor evaluation and qualification, as well as ongoing supplier quality management, when applicable.
  • Responsible for quality equipment and/or business system selection, justification, and implementation.
  • Manage quality processes for scope of control, reduced subjectivity, accuracy, and overall production efficiency.
  • Identify quality issues and promptly provides data generation and analysis for resolution.
  • Leads development and training of employees across the organization in quality procedures and topics.
  • Provide input and monitors expenses and capital budgets.



Skills and Experience You'll Need as a Manager, Quality Assurance:



  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and five years' experience as a quality leader.
  • An equivalent combination of education and management/leadership experience may be considered.
  • Requires a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, procedures, and test/measurement equipment relevant to area of responsibility.
  • Requires thorough understanding of change management and configuration control depending upon area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving experience.
  • Dedicated commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must be able to align and prioritize projects with respect to both Corporate and Quality Assurance goals and objectives.
  • Must have a working knowledge of quality principles and practices, ASQ Quality Certification, ISO (or equivalent) Lead Auditor or equivalent certifications are highly desirable.
  • Direct experience with integration of PLM, PDM, ERP and other relevant engineering and planning systems highly desirable.
  • Highly proficient in use of basic office software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of safe practices.
