Essential Duties:

Designs, develops, implements and analyses parts, sub-systems and systems. Performs engineering tasks with standard techniques. Assists more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computations and reports. Provides guidance to one or more engineers and/or associate engineers and/or interns. Leads continuous improvement initiatives.



  • Designs, develops, analyzes, documents and supports testing of products, systems or subsystems
  • Directs technical activities of assigned CAD designers and technicians
  • Guides work of intern(s) and engineer(s)
  • Reports progress and status
  • Supports assigned program(s) in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) environment
  • Completes analyses (FEA, hand calculations, etc.), detail drawings and assembly drawings
  • Contributes to peer reviews and engineering technical reviews
  • Captures design intent, by ensuring that individual parts assemble together into logical systems (stack up analyses, interface definition, etc.).
  • Responsible for the quality of the Engineering Changes (EC's) on assigned programs
  • Responsible for technical substantiation of design changes
  • Consults with Manufacturing, Operations & Quality for technical input
  • Completes assigned tasks on time and budget while meeting technical requirements
  • Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them
  • Understands and drives compliance with requirements
  • Implements design to cost; for manufacture and assembly; design for weight; design for maintainability
  • Complies with engineering playbook and best practice processes
  • Participates in preparation of less complex proposals as needed
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
  • Available for limited travel


Education/Experience/Other Skills & Abilities:



  • Minimum four (4) plus years of engineering experience, mechanical preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from accredited school required; MS Engineering preferred
  • Able to work independently on a weekly basis
  • Competent technical expertise
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with the shop/laboratory and equipment
  • Possesses quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
