**While the full salary range for the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor position is $36.36 - $54.54 hourly / $75,628.80 - $113,443.20 annually, the anticipated hiring range is $36.36 - $45.44 hourly / $75,628.80 - $94,515.20 annually. Final salary DOQ.** 2025 Benefits Summary GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:This position is responsible for various first line supervisory and specialized duties associated with the direction and allocation of personnel, as well as operational activities assigned to a Section in a manner that supports the overall mission and philosophies of the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. This position works under the general supervision of an Administrative Lieutenant and provides general to close supervision over all assigned personnel.

Duties

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. - Supervises and directs the cooperative work activities of all assigned personnel (i.e. Maintenance section, Crew Leader section, and Inmate Worker Program).
- Assists with compliance for all accreditation Standards pertinent to the Detention Facility and its grounds, as related to its section.
- Maintains scheduling of employees to see that the sections' needs are met.
- Defines, monitors, and evaluates individual assignments of subordinates.
- Reviews reports of subordinates, to ensure accuracy and completion of the reporting function.
- Evaluates performance of subordinates.
- Counsels subordinates to define problem areas and develops avenues for improvement.
- Defines objectives and sets goals for subordinates.
- Rates subordinates on evaluations according to training and policy and procedures.
- Provides customer service.
- May coordinate, schedule, assist and/or participate in relevant training programs.
- Assists with the training and orientation of new employees and the continued training of employees.
- Recommends to higher authority specific disciplinary/remedial training actions, as may be necessary.
- Communicates all important and relevant information to subordinates, as well as command staff members.
- Conducts briefings including policy changes relayed via email, memos or other methods of communication.
- Assigns inmates to outside agencies (e.g., fair grounds, graffiti program, road and bridges, etc.).
- May attend a variety of meetings relevant to assigned Section.
- Interprets, conveys and ensures the implementation of Agency policies, procedures and methods.
- Conducts staff and equipment inspections.
- Prepares, processes and maintains a variety of written reports and records pertaining to section activities, including monthly time sheets, daily activity reports, etc.
- Operates computers and standard office equipment, including commonly used computer software programs.
- Is committed to a high standard of safety laws and all of the Sheriff's Office policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to the appropriate supervisory and/or management personnel.
- Maintains regular and acceptable attendance at a level that is determined at the Sheriff's Office discretion.
- Is available and willing to work such overtime per day or per week as the Sheriff's Office determines is necessary or desirable to meet its needs.
- Is available and willing to work such weekends and holidays as the Sheriff's Office determines are necessary or desirable to meet its needs.
- Follows and supports the mission, values, organizational philosophies, operational principles, code of conduct and policies and procedures of the Sheriff's Office.
- Interacts effectively with others and exercises good judgment when dealing with people in sensitive situations.
- Performs related duties as required and assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge and understanding of operations pertaining to the Maintenance & Crew Leader sections.
- Knowledge and Understanding of the principles of Project Management.
- Ability to apply sound reasoning and decision-making.
- Ability to plan and implement a comprehensive computerized maintenance program.
- Skilled in conflict resolution.
- Knowledge of specialized training regarding the safety and security of inmates while protecting their civil rights.
- Ability to apply basic first aid.
- Working knowledge of the policies, procedures and methods utilized by the Agency.
- Ability to assign and evaluate the work of others.
- Ability to operate computer and phone systems, as required by the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two (2) years of experience in Supervision or related equivalent experience.
OR
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that satisfy the requirements of the job.
CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES: None.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a correctional environment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess CPR and First Aid certification within the initial status period.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

JOB-RELATED CONTACTS: Contacts are with individuals within the Sheriff's Office, with other Departments/Organizations and the general public. Specifically, extensive contact occurs with superiors, inmates, subordinates, and the general public.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Hazards present in this position are those inherent in occupational areas including minor maintenance, sanitation, and associated equipment operation. Work is performed in a security environment and procedures for assuring safety of all personnel are paramount. Work environment becomes extremely stressful during peak activity periods demanding full attention and coordination of numerous tasks simultaneously. May require immediate response to medical emergencies where blood, bodily fluids or other medical hazards may be present. In these instances, there may or may not be time to take precautionary and protective measures. May be assigned to work schedules requiring work on rotating shifts, weekends and holidays. 401(a) DEFINED BENEFIT RETIREMENT PLAN:Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office employees participate in a mandatory defined benefit program designed to help employees establish a source of income for retirement years. Through the Plan, eligible employees must set aside 9.00 percent, which is subject to change in the coming years, on a pretax basis of which the County matches at 9.75%. The County also contributes 6.2% to Social Security.
BIO-HAZARD NOTICE:

EXPECTED DURATION OF THE APPLICATION PROCESS: Due to the nature of the application and selection process for the Sheriff's Office, applicants can reasonably expect the application process to take a significant amount of time to complete before a decision is made to hire or not to hire. Typically, it takes approximately six (6) to twelve (12) weeks from the date of application to complete the entire selection process.
