Position Summary:



Yeshiva University seeks an Associate Vice President, Development & Campaigns to serve as a member of the Institutional Advancement's senior leadership team, providing strategic direction and management of the university's major gift, principal, leadership, planned giving, and foundation relations programs.

The AVP maintains a small portfolio of principal gift prospects; supervises the team of frontline fundraisers; and partners with deans and other academic leadership to ensure that each school, college, and unit establishes and achieves goals that meet their overall objectives and larger outcomes outlined by the governing strategic vision for YU.



Position Responsibilities:




  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for the frontline fundraising efforts, including major gifts, planned giving, foundation relations, and leadership annual giving
  • Manage the frontline fundraising team, ensuring through mentorship, support, tools, and clear direction that they are meeting defined expectations and metrics designed to help grow the university's fundraising results
  • Establish activity, solicitation, and fundraising goals for direct reports, including expectations for visits, proposals submitted, and total funds raised; work collaboratively with the Prospect Management and Research team to evaluate portfolios
  • Personally manage a small portfolio of principal gift ($1M+) prospects and donors
  • Support the VP and the University President's work with principal donors, working collaboratively to ensure that gift proposals are aligned with the broader University goals and strategic direction
  • Oversee the development of a robust planned giving program and significantly grow the pipeline of documented planned gifts
    * develop an integrated leadership giving program for donors at the $1K to $24,999 level that effectively builds the pipeline of future major giving prospects
  • In collaboration with the VP, work with academic and university leadership to define fundable institutional priorities and initiatives and identify major, principal, and planned gift prospects for their respective schools and departments
  • Collaborate closely with fellow members of the IA leadership team to support and guide the development efforts of the University



Experience & Educational Background:




  • Ten or more years of progressively responsible development experience, with demonstrated understanding and knowledge of best practices for complex fundraising organizations
  • Experience managing and supporting teams, with an ability to motivate and support individuals' goals
  • Recognized high-level expertise and accomplishment in major gifts fundraising; with substantial demonstrated success in closing gifts of 6- and 7-figure gifts
  • Demonstrated experience building successful, productive relationships with top stakeholders, including major donors and lay leaders
  • The intelligence, maturity, and sound judgment necessary for interacting with major donor prospects, trustees, administrative and academic leadership, faculty, and staff
  • Familiarity with fundraising systems and strong command of MS Office Suite products



Salary Range:



$220,000-$240,000
