Job DescriptionThis position is an entry point for the pool of qualified applicants to be selected for anticipated positions working under the guidance of the Texas State The EMS Workforce coordinator is responsible for coordinating the Workforce Non Credit Paramedic Program that will be delivered statewide. The EMS Workforce Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of the program including but not limited to: the administration, organization, supervision of the education program, advanced coordination of program, clinical coordination, providing didactic content in the online environment, tutoring sessions, and providing lab skill days.
Hiring Range: 57,542.40 - 63,296.64
The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Overview:
Oversee Paramedic Workforce Program across the state of Texas Provide student instruction in the classroom during lab days. Provide student instruction in the online format. Provide tutoring online for students. Provide leadership in evaluating the need of the department and recommend material, equipment necessary for the implementation for an effective educational program. Follow college policies and operational procedures to the instructional faculty and staff of the Program. Provide necessary support for the decisions of the college. Assure all state and national accreditation requirements are met for the Program and ensure applicable documentation and timelines are met. Provide and maintain clinical affiliations agreements to College, State, and National Guidelines and standards. Performing duties of clinical coordinator (scheduling students for clinicals, providing clinical orientation, auditing PCRs). Oversee EMS Programs as Advanced Coordinator and Clinical Coordinator.
Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Certifications Required:
Associate's degree in a related field or approved alternate certification/training. Four years of experience as a Paramedic functioning on an emergency response ambulance required Paramedic certification from the Texas Department of State Health Services Knowledge of EMS practices Knowledge of laboratory safety practices Knowledge of emergency procedures Knowledge of pre-hospital practices Knowledge of proper assessment techniques Skill to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment in a safe and correct manner Teaching and testing skills Ability to deliver instructional presentations Ability to prepare EMS lab Ability to train and direct students Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects Expertise in Emergency Medicine Expertise in Basic and Advanced Life Support Skills Communication Skills Teaching Ability Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Adaptability and Flexibility Empathy and Compassion Patience and Resilience Continuous learning through evidence based practice Ethical and Professional Conduct Train and direct students on proper emergency procedures to include: suctioning, oxygen therapy, airway management, traction, splinting, bandaging, etc. Demonstrate procedures including but not limited to: CPR instruction for infants and adults, spinal immobilization, vital signs, patient assessment, etc. Direct students in the proper procedure for medical administration such as: metered dose inhalers, epi pens, sublingual intramuscular injection, subcutaneous injection, endotracheal, cardioversion, code management, and defibrillation Train students on the proper procedures for ECG Recognition, such as: endotracheal intubation for adult and infant, esophageal intubation, intraosseous infusion, intravenous catheter insertion, external cardiac pacing, pneumatic anti-shock trousers, and automatic external defibrillator Provide information in the areas of expertise including but not limited to: hazardous materials, communications, ambulance operations, and multi-casualty incidents; Keep up to date with and revise course content and teaching methodology in order to maintain current working knowledge; Direct and/or evaluate students through skills practice in the proper procedures for safe and effective use of EMS equipment and simulation manikins; Prepare EMS lab sessions with the proper amount of materials and equipment necessary to effectively teach or evaluate EMS skills for each student; Maintain current working knowledge of pre-hospital practices and EMS education curriculum Train and direct students on proper CPR procedures to include: rescue breathing, opening of the airway, chest compressions, and AED operation while utilizing AHA approved training materials; train and direct students in BLS procedures and protocols Train and direct students on proper activation of emergency response systems Train and direct students in proper assessment techniques to include: medical assessment, trauma assessment, pediatric and geriatric assessment
Recommended Experience/Certifications:
Four consecutive years as a certified EMS Instructor 240 documented hours of instruction for initial EMS certificate students EMS Instructor Certification BLS Instructor ACLS Instructor PALS Instructor PHTLS Instructor NREMT Paramedic Advanced Coordinator with Department of State Health Services Clinical Coordinator experience
