Job Overview

The videographer/editor/photographer is a member of the Brand + Creative team, the hospital's in-house agency, and supports the Health Literacy team. Health Literacy supports patient/family health education at all network of care sites across Children's Hospital Colorado. Responsible for creating health education materials that powerfully reflect the passion, integrity and mission of evidence-based Health Literacy best practices as well as our brand, this individual demonstrates agility in adapting to new photography, videography, editing, design and interactive disciplines. They will work with the creative team and Health Literacy manager to design and produce a range of content including photography, video footage, and fully-edited videos for internal and external communications. Content may include, but is not limited to physicians and team members, patients and families, medical procedures and equipment, advocacy topics, events and facilities. This position requires excellent command of brand standards and visual communications principles and practices, formats, composition, production.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in copywriting, journalism, marketing, public relations, communications, English or a related field. Bachelor's degree in film, TV, media, cinematography, photojournalism, or related field preferred.
  • EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years of experience relevant to the assigned discipline, in an agency, studio, or corporate environment.
  • Proficient technical knowledge of editing systems, camera technologies, codecs, and photo/video encoding.
    • Proficient knowledge of Canon DSLR and cinema cameras and accompanying lenses.
    • Proficient knowledge of standard audio and lighting equipment.
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Could programs, including Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop and Illustrator. Basic knowledge of After Effects is a plus.
    • Proficient knowledge of post-production theory and current trends in the marketing space, with desire for continual learning.
  • EQUIVALENCY - Professional experience, beyond requirements, in a related field may substitute for a Bachelor degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Responsibilities

POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE

  • No direct patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - VIDEO

  • Work closely with the video team, Health Literacy team, marketing department and clients to create patient and caregiver education videos from conceptualization to final product. Video types range widely and may include: informational/educational, interview, b-roll, animation, etc.
  • Set-up, film and edit videos that follow Children's Hospital Colorado video, health literacy and brand standards.
    • Set-up for more complex multi-camera shoots with various lighting scenarios and kits.
    • Serve as director on video shoots.
    • Work with Health Literacy and translations teams to record talents delivering voiceovers in both English and Spanish.
  • Work through entire post-production process, including: cutting footage together to tell story or demonstrate a process according to provided scripts or general guidance, process all audio according to professional standards and complete professional-level color grading on footage.
  • Manage and track video projects from concept to completion using workflow management platforms to ensure timely delivery and alignment with client and brand standards.
  • Compile b-roll and provide video footage to various clients, such as the news media, via various online and in-person delivery methods.
  • Store and organize all video files.
  • Maintain and organize videos on YouTube and Vimeo channels, post all videos that are shared publicly, and coordinate captioning process for all public videos.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - PHOTOGRAPHY

  • Produce photography that supports patient and family education to ensure clear, inclusive effective visual communication by adhering to health literacy and brand standards and photography guidelines to be used in Children's Hospital Colorado materials including print, digital, social and other media.
  • Work closely with art director, Health Literacy team and client/clinical care team on photo shoot pre-production and direction. Take direction from more senior team members and art directors on shoots, and be able to self-direct when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Health Literacy team to integrate photography into educational materials, ensuring timely completion to support patient discharge timelines and enhance understand of care instructions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - GENERAL

  • Collaborate with other hospital teams and external video vendors and partners producing video across the organization to assist with shoots, work on projects, and advise on compliance with brand standards.
  • Upload and organize all video and photo assets in online digital asset management system.
  • Act as a steward of Health Literacy, brand standards and guidelines.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $61,473.39 to $92,210.08
Hourly Salary Range: $29.55 to $44.33
