The IT Apprentice position is Duke Energy's technical development role for driven Road to Hire graduates seeking a dynamic career at the country's largest electric power holding company.

As an IT Apprentice, you will be immersed in the Enterprise Technology & Innovation department on an IT product team supporting exciting small-scale and/or large scale initiatives, collaborating with experience professionals, and growing your skills in a supportive and innovative environment. This position provides continual education and on-the-job training to better prepare you for future technical roles and opportunities, setting you up for sustained success.

You will gain valuable insight into Duke Energy's corporate culture and access to continuous support through IT Communities of Practice and Employee Resource Groups. Basic Qualifications:
  • Completion of Road to Hire program
  • Between zero and two years of full time IT or Engineering work experience
Desired Qualifications:
  • Coding specific skills: Angular 2+, Java Spring Boot, Python, Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android)
  • Exposure to cloud native development in either AWS or Azure
  • Exposure to or familiarity with computer networking, application development and support, information security, operating systems, database administration, business analysis, project management
  • Willingness and desire to rotate to, as well as an ability to excel in, a variety of diverse roles
  • Professional, effective written and verbal communication skills, plus organizational ability
  • Previous IT or Engineering internship, co-op, or work experience
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Community service and volunteer experience
  • Self-driven, motivated, and proactive
