Summary
The Fabric Technician is responsible for preparing material to sew into architectural shades, umbrellas, and foam soft-play products by measuring, placing marks, cutting fabric or textile to the proper specifications, and seaming materials together. The Fabric Technician cuts a fabric roll into a given number of yards and/or while following a pattern as part of the manufacturing process, using sheers or cutting machines
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Measures, accurately cuts, and sew seams if required.
- Follows operational instructions when operating or using tools and equipment.
- Follows all applicable safety procedures to avoid injuries including but not limited to request for help from co-workers with loads exceeding 40 pounds, proper handling of raw materials, and follow all operational instructions when operating or using tools and equipment.
- Examines finished parts for accuracy in dimensions, color, visual inspections for cosmetic and surface defects to meet work order or drawing specifications.
- Resolves problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
- Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling maintenance for repairs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations according to the 5'S practices
- Informs manager of supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies.
- Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma is preferred but not required.
- Must be able to read a tape measure or take required training class.
Travel
Computer Skills
- Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is preferred.
Other Requirements
- Ability to work in different manufacturing environments handling various materials.
- Work with a set of sheers or cutting machines.
