Construction Materials Engineer

S&ME is seeking individual(s) to join our Construction Services team in Columbus, OH as a Construction Materials Engineer and help us provide engineering solutions to our clients.

What You Will Do:

As a Construction Materials Engineer, you will play a key role in construction inspection and materials testing, ensuring quality and compliance while leading and mentoring a team.

* Oversee and manage medium to large geotechnical and construction materials testing projects from inception through final reporting, ensuring that each phase aligns with industry standards.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs and exceeding quality expectations.

* Lead, mentor, and inspire field staff, fostering a safe, supportive, and growth-oriented work environment.

* Work closely with technical teams, leadership, and laboratory staff to ensure seamless project delivery and high-impact outcomes.

* Help grow our business by building client relationships, expanding your professional network, and contributing to revenue goals.

Who You Are:

* You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.

* You have at least 5 years of experience in Construction Inspections and Materials Testing, Geotechnical projects, and/or Special Inspections.

* You have a Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within six months.

* You have strong familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT standards, and IBC Special Inspections.

* You have the physical ability to work in field settings, handle equipment, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

* Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions.

* Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day.

* Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment).

* Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites.
